My favorite experience with Daylight Savings Time was the year my husband and I got it wrong by a week. Early. We decided to hit the McDonald's Drive Thru before church and hubby, who had a longer time realizing we were wrong and they were right, spent about ten minutes asking to talk to managers and the like, explaining that they were all living under a rock and that it was still an hour til it was time to stop serving breakfast.
Meanwhile, in the passenger seat, I was blushing. We missed church and we got no breakfast. Did I mention that was the Sunday our new pastor's family was introduced? And we were associate pastors?
We introduced ourselves as Dumb and Dumber. LOL
I've never forgotten the sound of my husband's voice declaring loudly to the McDonalds intercom as we pulled away: "Welcome to the Real World!!!"
Good thing we both have a sense of humor.

I'll say I really like the extra hour I get in October...
And I really hate the hour I lose in March!

Thus I start my semi-annual crusade to rid the world of the ungrammatical trailing -s in Daylight Saving Time.
In the normative form of the name, "daylight saving" is a compound adjective that modifies "time."
The common variant, "daylight savings time", is frequently heard in speech and appears in some dictionaries. This, however, is /wrong/. You heard it here first. ;)
While you're unlearning years of incorrect grammatical phraseology, don't forget to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Yes, thank you for that gentle but all-important reminder, Phy! ;)

I'm always worried I've mis-remembered the date. That's why when I posted over in GT I looked it up on the net to veri it was today.

Sigh.... can you believe we set the all the clocks except my alarm clock. Yea, we missed church. My oldest daughter was not that happy with me. :(

*is feeling the saving*
Why oh why did my three year old choose this night of the year to stay up practically all night???
I think I'm going to cover my bust of Ben Franklin with a paper bag for a week to make myself feel better.

Send him over to my house for awhile. I love Daylight Saving Time. :)

Well, I'll love it again after a week. I'm a gardener - so I always appreciate extra daylight after I get home from work! It's just the first week that kills me. ;)

I like the later sundown -- makes it feel lilke spring is almooooost here -- although we won't be seeing the grass any time soon, with all the snow on it.

I hate it. Would rather have the opposite, an extra hr in the morning, I get outta bed much easier that way. If I needto stay up late, that's what lights are for. Kinda hard to turn em on in the morning w/ out getting up first.
