What do you do for the winter blues or blahs?

Play in the snow...
(I'm really not qualified to dole out advice on this matter I'm afraid. Winter is my favourite season. :o)

I'd LOVE to play in the snow. Could you send me some please? As time passes, snow in my neck of the woods is becoming a rare commodity! :(

Hey, HEY! New York hasn't had a good snow since early December! Don't look at me – I'm in the same boat!
Right now we're going through this bootleg Spring that's kind of cheesing me off.

Well shoot. Now I'm all disappointed. Anybody have any snow they can send our way?

...Canadians?

OH! Good idea! I've got a friend who lives in Canada. Maybe I can get him to send us some. :)

We live on a border town; I can see Canada if I stand on my porch. We've had quite a lot of snow this winter, and it really has been a lovely snow year so far (I'm rubbing it in, I guess). Since we live right off the lake (about three blocks), we've gotten quite a bit of lake effect snow, the prettiest kind, in my opinion; the really big, fluffy flakes that come down so "quiet" and slow. I'd send some to anybody who wants some, but, don't you think it'd melt?:p

Hmm... That is a conundrum.

I had some snow yesterday, but it melted today. They say there will be more tomorrow though.

The snow melting would be a problem wouldn't it. Maybe we should try talking to the guy who controls the weather. That could work.

Well, I haven't talked to the guy that controls the weather about the weather--yet, we got hit HARD again today--snow day! That's always joyous news for our seventeen-year-old daughter and her friends, and they'll likely get the same tomorrow!

/sigh
Hit the high 60s yesterday... Only in the 40s today...

It was warm yesterday, but got to 17 degrees before we went to bed last night. We have snow this morning and lots of ice. All the rain we got over the last couple of days froze.

Yeah, Tamera, that happened here, too, which is why school was closed yesterday. It's closed again today because we got at least another several inches of snow last night. I've enjoyed it this year because it's been so "organized": from two inches to six inches at a time, the snow has come down, melted for a couple of days or so, and then it cools off again, snows again--so none of the snow this year has been "old." Ever since we moved to Michigan (we had been Californians) it's been different every year. I've never found the weather so interesting before!
And I'm sorry for you, Ransom--but we've had winters like that here in Michgian before, too. The people who hate snow love that!

My son called me last night from Canada (north of Quebec, I think). He's there on a business trip. He said that in places where they've plowed through the snow, it is piled up the height of houses!
By the way, do any of you have more ways to beat the winter blahs than playing in the snow? :p

Hm. I'm tempted to answer "Make a snowman!", but that's pretty much covered in my prior suggestion...
Umm, build a fire? :D

Oooo, mmm: we experienced that volume of snow one winter in Maine, and they can get that much in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I think that people who put up with this amount of snow on a regular basis don't have TIME for winter blahs.
My son has been outside for two and a half hours now shoveling, and my daughter an hour (I'm sick right now so they're on their own, poor things), and my daughter still can't get the car out of the driveway! Yep, they're too busy to be blue!
Otherwise, for my part, I "beat" the winter blahs by reading, writing, watching movies I love, and waiting; waiting for Spring so I can work on my lawn, which will be nice and green from all this snow!

SEE! Good, deep, cold, snow-drenched Winters make for even more beautiful Springs! :)
