Calling all Princess Bride Fans!

First of all, vote about how much you like (or didn't like, but then you shouldn't be on this thread, should you? Just Kidding) the movie.

Then tell us your FAVORITE part.

My turn:

BUTTERCUP: And you can die too for all I care!
WESTLEY: As... you... wish!
BUTTERCUP: Oh my sweet Westley. What have I done?

Okay, your turn.

I voted that it was okay only because it's been so long I can't remember it. I do remember it was fun.

Ha! I haven't watched the move all the way through, but I have to say that's an excellent set of lines!

Have fun storming the castle!

I say that one to my friends all the time.

Another great line...

Miracle Max: Go away or I'll call the Brute Squad.
Fezzik: I'm on the Brute Squad.
Miracle Max: [sees Fezzik] You *are* the Brute Squad!

And...

Count Rugen: [calmly] As you know, the concept of the suction pump is centuries old. Really that's all this is except that instead of sucking water, I'm sucking life. I've just sucked one year of your life away. I might one day go as high as five, but I really don't know what that would do to you. So, let's just start with what we have. What did this do to you? Tell me. And remember, this is for posterity so be honest. How do you feel?
[Wesley cries and moans in pain]
Count Rugen: Interesting.

(buttercup stopping to kiss the king the king has that look of surprise on his face) What was that for?
Buttercup: Because you've always been so kind to me. And I won't be seeing you again since I'm killing myself once we reach the Honeymoon Suite.

KING
(smiling away -- his hearing isn't what it once was)

Won't that be nice?

(calling out to the Queen)

She kissed me...

The whole to the pain scene...

and for some reason, mostly cause i am big Adre the giant fan.......when he has the horses and tells inigo that he has the horse, and he saw four of them and if we ever find the lady.... "Ohh Hello Lady"

"and don't worry i won't let it go to my head."

This is one of my favorite all time movies, the first one i watched with my oldest and i just truly enjoy it, the book is alot better but mainly because it gives the whole story behind the characters.

"Hold it HOLD IT HOLD IT! Is this a kissing book?"

AND

"Ever heard of Plato? Aristotle? Socrates?"

Wesley nods.

"Morons."

Actually, the book is drop dead hilarious. I think I'm going to have to read it again.

I LOVE this movie!

"the holy state of mawwidge" the archbishop.
"I love you" wesley
"Wait Wesley, I don't understand this. Are you saying that if my love is a grain of sand, yours is an ocean of beaches?" Buttercup

And yes, the book is even better than the movie! It's GREAT! I love this so much.

How about "Marrwig is what brings us here today. Twue Love. That dweam within a dweam."
and
"He's not dead, he's mostly dead."
and at the end when the boy asks the grandfather to read the book again the next day and the grandfather replies...
"As you wish."

Has anybody read the abridged "Princess Bride" novel. It's even better than the movie. Of course what book isn't.

This is such a quotable film:

Vizzini: HE DIDN'T FALL? INCONCEIVABLE.

Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

LOL The t-shirt is funny and I love the inconceivable quote. Nearly every line in the movie is special that way.

I love this movie!!! I can't remember my favorite line, but everyone has repeated ones that I love. :) Billy Chrystal is hilarious, and I love Peter Falk as the grandfather (though I always think of him as Columbo for some reason... even though I'm a bit too young to remember the show.)

I love the scene where Billy Chrystal's character is trying to breathe life back into Westley and he asks him what he has to live for (I can't remember what Chrystal interprets it as) and his wife comes out of nowhere screaming, "Liar!" and proceeds to insist that he said "True Love". :)

Anyone know the author of the book? I've tried to find the book online at the library, but all I can find is the movie... which I already own, so that doesn't do me much good.

It's "officially" written by S. Morgenstein and translated by William Goldman. But, actually, that was just a gag. William Goldman is the author. ;)

Hmm... So, should I look under 'Morgenstein' or 'Goldman' on the library catalog???

That's part of the gag. William Goldman "abridged" S. Morgenstein when he translated it. :p

I've read that a lot of folks went out looking for S. Morgenstern's 'classic' after reading The Princess Bride. ;)

Just got the book at the library over the weekend... Man! I'm loving this. :) I haven't figured out what all's tongue in cheek or not, but I really am enjoying it so far. Tried to hint at the fact I wouldn't mind a copy of the book for my B-day, but I'm not sure Hubby figured it out... Oh well. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._Morgenstern#Autobiographical_fiction

You'll never find it under 'Morgenstein', but you should still look under the proper spelling for 'Morgenstern', which is 'G-o-l-d-m-a-n'.
