One must often dig deep to find diamons, but once discovered, they are treasured forever.
I also used to be a film student. :-x

Well I would want to help make Christian films that honor God. I'm thinking scriptwriting.

I don't, but at one time I did, and just because I hate television (particularly commercials) doesn't mean I can't enjoy good shows on DVD! :D

Ladyhawke (Rutger Hauer) (Did I say Rutger Hauer was in it?) (Rutger Hauer....)
.....I'd better stop.....
Yes, I'm afraid you'd better...
Strangely, you didn't mention Blade Runner. Rutger Hauer was in that too, y'know. ;)
I could've thrown in a few more Britcoms in my TV listing, but I didn't. I should mention that Black Adder is probably my all-time favourite.
Cymrugirl
01-07-2008, 05:32 PM
I watched Blade Runner for the first time a few years ago. While some of the cinematography was impressive, the story didn't feel cutting edge to me anymore. Rutger Hauer was sort of strange in it to me - and let's not talk about Darryl Hannah. Interesting story, though.
I've only seen a brief clip of Black Adder. Brilliant premise - I just haven't had the time to give it a full go.
I could have mentioned so much more on film - Serenity, The Saint, O Brother Where Art Thou?.....
Ransom v. Unman

You need, NEED!, to see Black Adder. Rowan Atkinson at his sardonic best... Nothing else he's been in is quite like it.
The costuming is beautiful too (since we're talking about period pieces and all...)

Lucia, I knew I liked you, girl! I can't believe someone else loves those English comedies. I absolutely love As Time Goes By. Just normal life.
Hmmm...Black Adder...I'll have to look that one up!

I guess I'm reviving this thread... I was going to post a similar question, anyway. :)
My absolute favorite show right now: Bones on FOX. I love the interplay between the atheist anthropologist (Bones) and her Catholic FBI Agent partner (Booth--played by David Boreanaz). It's one of the few shows that I've seen that regularly have discussions/arguments about God and His Existence that never get resolved (both are too stubborn!) It's also rated the most accurate by I believe Popular Science magazine of all the crime shows like CSI. :)
Other favorite shows:
Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
Early Edition
Diagnosis: Murder
Touched by an Angel (and its spinoff--can't remember the name of it off hand)
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: The Next Generation
JAG (even though I missed the last few seasons)
Everybody Loves Raymond
CSI: New York
CSI: Miami
Movies:
Episodes 3 - 6 of STAR WARS!!! (gee, ya think? I've got Princess Leia as my avatar!)
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Any Hitchcock flick with Grace Kelly, Cary Grant or James Stewart
The Quiet Man
McLintock! (Hey, McLintock! No whiskey, bad party. We go home. -- my favorite line)
Casino Royale (the new one, not the spoof)
Horsefeathers
A Night at the Opera
A bunch of old musicals from the 30s and 40s with the likes of Fred Astaire
Singin' in the Rain
My Fair Lady
The Music Man
Gigi
Father Goose (if you haven't seen this movie with Leslie Caron & Cary Grant, it's a classic--and SO funny. :))
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Shrek 1, 2 & 3
Lady and the Tramp
Sleeping Beauty (Disney version)
okay... why don't we say pretty much everything that's in my video library other than 'Dumb & Dumber' and maybe 'Austin Powers'... That should cover it.
