Okay. Quick poll. Who has broaband internet and who has dial-up? And how do you feel about it?

I'll go first: I've got broadband now, but I used to have dial-up for the past seven years, and I absolutely HATED it!

Broadband is SO MUCH BETTER !!!

Yeah, dial-up stinks. I went from 56k service to 256k and couldn't believe how much faster everything was, then I got a free upgrade to 768k about a week before I went to school, and got 5 mb/s service there. Now 768k seems slow.

I'm waiting for FOIS to make it here.

I went on to broadband so the wife could use the phone without finding out that I was scanning through CW again. It was so much cheaper than divorce !

I had dial up until I no longer had the patience for it. I like broadband better (there's no comparison); except for the cost factor.

ks and dublin, ditto, ditto, ditto. Had dial-up and hated it. It drove me nuts! Also hated the fact that the phone was tied up. I love, love, love my broadband.

LOL! Wordsculptor, I think if I had had dial-up much longer, that d-word may have been a possibility in our house. Nah, not really!

I have Broadband...would not go back to dial up and it is great that it frees the phone for use.

I have broadband too, soooo much better than dial-up. Had that for too long, and couldn't tie up the phone that long either. It's great!

All you folks are probably too young to remember the days of 300 baud modems and bulletin boards....

And, no matter how fast computers become, no matter how fast the connections, they will always seem too slow, and we will get exasperated at having to wait, even if the wait time is only a second or two. I've been through the days of 300 baud, then 28k, then 56K, and now, I have ATT FastAccess DSL. It is all too slow, LOL.

Ooo! Oo! I remember 300 baud! My family had Prodigy when it first came out!

We were on the "internet" before the internet even existed!

We had dial-up about 10 years ago! Ugly!

Now we get our Interwebs over the cable -- one bill for it and the TV.

Ooooo, I hated dial-up! It was so-o-o-o frustrating. Especially for updates. Yikes! Now, Prof, we have the same setup as you do. Now I'm a happy computer camper! Praise the Lord for broadband!

Whoops! Forgot I already answered this!

I have what I call cable internet. Is that broad band. I love it. Compared to dial up it's lightening fast. My brother in law lives in a hollar and they won't run cable to him and he's stuck with dial up cause he can't afford anything else. I'm hooked on the internet.
