Predictions on how Dale Jr.'s year will go behind the wheel of an HMS car?

He'll probably go faster since he's not tied to Mommy's apron strings!

Hey, wg, have you ever watched the Barrett-jackson car auction on Speed channel? Really cool cars! But what I want to know is...where do all these people get all that money?

LOL! I don't know where the money comes from, but you have to go through a credit check at the front door before they'll even give you the paperwork to fill out for a bidder's number. And if your bank account isn't padded enough, there's a Visa rep there to fast-track a Barret Jackson credit card to potential bidders!

IMO, Barrett Jackson has done more to destroy the classic car hobby in this country than anything else. People don't understand the process that Barrett Jackson goes through to inspect and certify that the cars were restored correctly, that they're rust-free, that the body-work was top quality. So all of the sudden you see all these patched-together bondo-queen pieces of junk with insane price tags. I mean, I just looked at a '68 Firebird that's been sitting on the side of the road for more than two years with a $17,000 price tag, the guy won't back off, and the car still needs a good $30,000 worth of restoration to even be considered a #2 car... that car will rust away beyond repair while the owner argues with anybody and everybody that he saw the same car on Barrett Jackson go for a hundred thousand.

Within a half-mile of where I grew up, I've seen '57 Chevys, '64 Impalas, some really nice old trucks, and a '69 Caprice all sit and rust so bad that they're beyond repair because the owners thought they were worth way more than they really were, and once the car was rusted beyond hope, they got hauled off for scrap. It's sad when you think how many people would have enjoyed those cars and loved those cars and restored them to like-new if only the owners would have sold them at a reasonable price. But hey, they saw one just like it on Barrett Jackson, so they're gonna keep it in their back yard till someone pays them what it's worth...

The restored cars are beautiful and slick. It's too bad there is a trickle-down effect that is negative! What a shame!

Really the worst part of it are all the cars that get patched together with bondo and never fixed properly, then sold at a high price as a restored classic. I just got back from seeing about sixty old cars for sale at a dealership that weren't right, but had the high-dollar price tags. And a good chunk of those cars had sold signs in the window too. :(

Yeah, it really pays to be informed, especially in this area!

I can't wait to see Jr running on this new team. I hope it's going to be really good for him to move out of the family stables.

It'll be a huge improvement if he can actually finish races consistently without plumes of smoke pouring from grenaded engines.

Yea every race last year i kept waiting for the motor to blow. But really i'd like to see him start fresh a new pit crew and all even get rid of ...his crew chief what do you all think..

The new team's engine package has to do him worlds of good.

Non-grenade engines can only help. :)

Well, Junior was second overall in single-car runs at testing in Daytona, and sixth or so in the draft for the second week. Good signs, can't wait for the Shootout though (he is in the Shootout, right?)

And after the final day of practice Jr. sits at 19th overall. Though I hear NASCAR is about to implement a rules change, and a lot of teams were running a higher rear-end ratio in anticipation of that change, so maybe we haven't seen all the speed the #88 has yet.
