I'm currently working on a fantasy piece, but historical fiction is my first love and I hope to return to it after I've finished my WIP.

I write mostly historical fiction, although western is the historical fiction I write the most. Since mine are more historical western and not trade back westerns, I checked historical. I do also write nonfiction cirriculum and how to children's ministry stuff too.

I checked inspirational. I've written poetry all my life, and a few devotionals as an adult. Now I'm focusing on novels. I do have a killer in one book, but most of my "mysteries" have to do with people's pasts, both adults and children - the secrets and suffering they hide. I have romance, too (I'm a chick, after all!), but the overall theme is no matter what we've been through, God has forgiveness, healing, and redemption for us.

I selected mystery, but my stuff borders on suspense and romance as well... (probably more romance than suspense, though, but definitely a lot of mystery. :) )

i checked poetry, but that's subjective as it has many forms. in fact, many poetry types feel more like a short story. anyway, i think that's the one i write the most.

I picked science fiction and fantasy. Although I experiment with other genres from time to time, I keep coming back to speculative fiction.

I'm going to have to learn what literary and speculative fiction genres are...

Well, I think I voted for the wrong one. I write non-fiction but mostly inspirational and probably should have marked inspirational. Oh, well!

The problem is we can't check more than one, Lynn. For instance, my last two novels were inspirational historical westerns. But my next novel is an inspirational historical. How do you just pick one?

I picked other because the majority of my writings are short devotional thoughts.

I have to say romance, but i have written a devotional and might write some more.

But i will say my romances are inspirational and have a Chrsitian basis

I also know that are times we do dabble in other genres.

I picked other, because I bounce around from genre to genre. I don't believe in monogamous writing. :p:)

Hello, I like to write nonfiction. The stories that I like to write for childre are Bible stories told by one of the characters or object in the story. I like to also equate these to our lives today and help them to build good moral character through these stories. I also like to write about my mission trips that I take and also like to write devotionals. My interest are varried and I feel that whatever God puts on my heart I should write. Thanks for asking. I checked Romance, but have had inspirational pieces published. So I guess you could say I write inspirational romance. Pretty much open to whatever God gives. :)

This is ironic that no one's picked chick-lit/women's fiction yet, because that and historical romance are about the only fiction genres that CBA/ECPA publishers will touch with a ten-foot pole (Gravity's stories about Mr. Box notwithstanding...).

I checked Historical Fic, but I actually write quite a variety. I write inspirational non-fiction, poetry, skit's and plays, western's, and romance...so maybe I should have hit other too...there is just not enough options..lol.

I write poems more and I know I'll be tending to writting fictions soon by God's grace.
I have read a couple of Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker novels, and I fell in love with spiritual insights into fictions.
With that as a 'lightway' Im inclined to it.
Thanks for this insight!

No surprise - I picked 'poetry' though some folk might debate that !

Like Lynmosher, I chose non-fiction when I should have picked inspirational. Then again, why not categorize our faith as non-fiction?

I do whatever I'm in the mood for, haha. That can be anything from poetry, to mystery, to sci-fi... lol. My stuff's under 'batkid' at www.dc2universe.com, and LadyAryaKenobi at www.fanfiction.net... lol, you can see I play around with genres.

I marked Thriller, but there is also:
SF/F
non-fiction
poetry

I also want to try my hand at:
religious/devotional (which I don't see on the list - just religious fiction, which all my fiction should fit into at some point)
historical fiction (maybe in fantasy form)

Hi, there,
I'm new to this site and I like Science Fiction. For some reason, whatever I touch turns into it... I give my mum the blame: she used to watch Star Trek and Time Tunnel on Sunday afternoons! ( ...And I loved it! ;))
I'm hoping to make some new friends here who have similiar interests!
Talk to you soon!

Fantasy is what I mainly spend my time with, but I wouldn't mind suspense, drama, sci fi and maybe even a western or non- fiction why limit myself?

I write poetry, and am considering making a touch sensitive book for children to touch an instrument like a Sax or flute, and a small tune plays, and possibly using this method for teaching how to play the piano, or any instrument for that matter.

Hi all, I checked Nonfiction. I write nonfiction now but I have this desire to write a Christian Fiction. Maybe somewhat historical. I am in the reseacrh and development stage. I have my ideas on paper--and am praying about the Characters and their devolpment. I have to introduce myself to them and then watch what they do. It is going to be a journey I can already tell. I don't know if anyone else gets the title first and then the story comes but that is how it is working with me right now.
I'll sure update yall as it comes!!
I am going to post a new article today. I hope you all enjoy reading it.

Yup, that's how it always is for me. I can't make a move without at least a working title. ;)

Hi, all! I pretty well said it all in the new member thingy, but, hey, I'm pretty wordy! Guess as writers we all should be! That way the editors have a lot of fun editing out the extras and there's still a story left! (I'm dreaming on…sigh!)

I chose Sci-Fi/Fantasy but I should have selected 'other'. My first novel was a western (I was born and raised in the west and was trying to follow the sage advice to 'write what you know'. :-) The second novel was a Christian/Fantasy. My third, a boy's story (location out west), the fourth is nearly finished…a Sci-Fi/Romance. The fifth is a futuristic story which isn't half done yet as it's complicated and takes time. The sixth is complete and is a Sci-Fi/Romance. Now I'm starting an inspirational romance, but I'm not as good in this as in the others.

I like to have a few novels going at once. Gives me a variety when I get writer's block on one, I work on the other. I'm in trouble if I get it for both.

I do like to write poetry, too. I've self published my own book of it. Learned how to put a book together when I work in the prints shops………

Sigh! Sooo much writing to do………sooo little time!!!!

I've never tried to get any of them published. That's the crazy part. I just enjoy writing them and making them up! That's the total joy of writing to me. However, I'm not getting any younger and I think here on this site I'll be brave enough to dive into trying to get them published. :-)

At the moment I'm doing largely script - not an option on this poll so I selected other. Make most of my money (ha!) doing non-fiction articles, but my 'heart' writing is fiction - currently working on a teen mystery and a children's picture book. Taken the plunge and sent the latter off to an agent. Now the big wait ...

I write encouragement inspirational things. I write blogs and articles. I have also written a book to encourage single parents or anyone going through hard times that never seem to end. I share what God did in my life and then write about things I went through and what I have/am learning about them.
I hope to be able to write here more often.
God bless,
Jane
