Anybody here have the chance to Adam by Ted Dekker? I was curious to see opinions before I took the time to read it. His stuff can be kind of hit or miss.

I haven't finished it, but so far it's one of his better books.

I read about it in a Christian bookstore magazine. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me he keeps rewriting the same theme. The type of thing where the MC is "the one", stuff including the FBI, a serial killer. Adam sounds like a chip off of Saint or his other books like it. Maybe it's just me, but it seems he should try to explore other themes and ideas.

It's not available in Australia yet, but I can't wait for Adam. Skin and House were a bit disappointing, and Saint to some level, but overall I love his books.

I think that's the problem I have with them Jon. I get a few chapters in and realize I've already read them.

Jonathon, Dekker follows the same 'story' a bit but from different angles, but also you have to remember many of his books are part of The Circle Trilogy and therefore link into it.

I knew that Saint was connected to Showdown. Unforunatly, I didn't realize that before I read Saint. Which was very confusing. Maybe Adam is the same? I never read The Circle Triology, however.

I haven't read Adam yet but would also love to hear from someone who has...I also just finished Saint and didn't realize until I was part way through that there is a connection to Showdown. I really enjoy Ted Dekker's writing, although I tend to agree his novels seem similiar to one another.

Some of his novels are similar, but certainly not all of them are. Skin was very similar to House though.

I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of Adam...I've read every book he has ever written! (and for those of you who have not read the Trilogy, read it. They are his best work) As for being similar, that is indeed so because many of them are connect to the Trilogy. House, Saint, Skin and Showdown are all part of a series called Project Showdown. Adam is supposed to a be separate thriller....like Thr3e or Obsessed.
