Dear Fellow Screenwriters,

I just received this opportunity and am passing it on. It is a good one but a word of caution . . . I know Steve personally and he is a tough critic! He's a pastor himself (a large church in AZ) and also a very good screenwriter so heed his guidelines . . .

Let me know if you have any success!!thumbsup!

I am part of a production company that plans to make a series of short
films designed to be used as ministry resources. We intend to produce
three films for our initial release. What we want at this stage are
scripts. If you have a script that meets the criteria below and would
like to send it for consideration, we'll pay $1000 for each script we
option and another $4000 if we produce it.

Here's what we're looking for…

• Stories with an underlying subject that lends itself to a lesson,
discussion or sermon. Examples of such subjects are: Using your gift;
Providence; Showing genuine love; Joy amidst trials; Forgiveness;
Sacrifice; Change/growth. You could come at these or other subjects
from a variety of angles. NOTE: Even though these will be ministry
resources, we're not looking for stereotypical "Christian" stories.
The characters don't need to be believers. "God" does not have to be
mentioned or the Bible quoted. We just want good stories that contain
an underlying biblical message. And, though the subject should be
apparent, the script should not be "preachy."
• All genres of stories. We want to put out a variety with these
first three films. Nothing is set in stone at this point, but we're
thinking a comedy, something with a `supernatural twist' (e.g., Family
Man) and a drama.
• Stories that are appropriate for a church setting. I totally agree
that `an R-rated truth is better than a G-rated lie,' but for these
films (especially the initial ones), we need scripts that won't
present any problem being shown for a youth group, etc. If you have
other scripts, we will consider them for later films.
• Scripts that are 10-12 pages, set in 2-3 locations. Our budget for
these films is substantial compared to most shorts, but not unlimited.
Our first priority is a good story, but it also needs to be containable.

Send any scripts you would like us to consider or questions you have
to: steve@stonewaterfilms.com. Also, feel free to pass on this
information to anyone you think might have a potential script.
