There are lots of threads here at CW that deal with marketing. Try doing a search of them.

Also, you can do a google search on marketing and finds a lot of good information.

Bottom line ... you'll need to do a lot of research and work but it does pay off.

As Francine noted, info about book marketing is plentiful both on and offline. You can certainly try for reviews, but things that are more in your control would be article writing, blogging, freelance writing and more of what you're doing here, social networking.

An excellent resource for how to do many of these tasks is Carolyn Howard Johnson's book The Frugal Book Promoter and site http://www.howtodoitfrugally.com

One simple thing to do is include links with your signature (see mine and many others in this forum) Links can go to your website, blog or where your book can be purchased. You use signatures like this in forum and blog posts, email, just about anywhere where it is allowed. It's pretty easy to do, let us know if you need a couple of pointers.

Let me recommend Carmen Leal's book You Can Market Your Own Book (http://http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1932124004?ie=UTF8&tag=inthedai-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1932124004). It's definitely worth the cost. I attended one of her classes at a conference last year. Before becoming an author she worked in marketing and advertising. She knows what works and she knows how to get it done with little investment -- just creativity, effort and time.

I just ordered this book after a strong recommendation from my publisher.

RED HOT INTERNET PUBLICITY by Penny C. Sansevieri.

I did some research and read some reviews and ordered it from Amazon. I was particularly interested in the "internet" aspect of it.
