Sales Tax

I have a quick question for those of you that has decided to self publish and sell books on your site. How exactly does taxes work? Does anyone know the rules on that?

Depends on your state and where you sell them. If they are sold on the internet, I think you have to charge some people depending on the state they live in. Then you have to report that and pay it to them. In most states, you must have a business license to do that. You would need to check with your local city, county, & state gov. agencies. Each state has their own rules, and often you will have to pay both state and local taxes.

Mine were always bought at the register of the store where I did the signing. The tax was paid there--or through the web site that sold them (not my site).
