My dear friend and companion ‘Goodness’ turned up in a mini bus this morning and ‘led me to a place called Repentance’ Romans 2:4 As usual we were accompanied by his friend ‘Grace’ and my constant companion ‘Mercy’ who arrives as good as ‘new every morning’ Lamentations 3:23 Just as we began our journey we were stopped by our old friend ‘Joy who was unspeakable and full of glory Isaiah 61:3 ‘Mourning’ a most disagreeable person often interrupted our daily journeys but he hates ‘Joy’ and so today he stayed at home. ‘Praise’ literally jumped at the chance of getting to ‘Repentance’ and climbed on board as we headed out of town into the rolling green hills.
I noticed that Joy was wearing a ‘garment of praise’ just in case we were overtaken by ‘a spirit of heaviness’ Isaiah 61:3 and so we sang loudly on the long narrow road journey to ‘Repentance’
What singing it was as though ‘the Lord had inhabited our praise’ Psalm 22:3 Joy unspeakable filled the mini van with glory 1 Peter 1:8 and our ‘merry hearts did us good like a medicine’ Proverbs 17:22
We stopped on the way and got some ‘daily bread’ Matthew 6:11 drank deeply of some ‘living water which flowed like a river’ John 7:38 and gave thanks for Gods his provision and his willingness to ‘provide all our needs according to his riches in glory’ Philippians 4:19. ‘Goodness’ encouraged us to reach Repentance as soon as possible lest that old reprobate ‘Temptation’ overtook us; at the same time assuring us that ‘Grace would be sufficient.’ 2 Corinthians 12:9
On the way we stopped to give some daily ‘bread to the hungry and dear ‘Praise’ even gave one of his spare garments to a naked person.’ Indeed within a short time ‘we had undone heavy burdens, broken yokes and let the oppressed go free.’ Later ‘Praise’ was troubled with sickness but ‘his health sprang forth speedily’ Isaiah 58:6-8
Finally just as darkness was beginning to close in we came to ‘Repentance’ It was just where old ‘Goodness’ said it would be; at the foot of a blood stained wooden tree.
Joined by countless thousands of other in distress we unburdened ourselves of our sins and our iniquities. As each one knelt on what seemed to be Holy Ground every man took of his burden and in sorrow received forgiveness and a new life. The ground was wet with tears but as I watched, angels came took the fallen tears and ‘put them in a bottle’ Psalm 58:8
Suddenly a voice from heaven sounded an eternal promise to the unburdened saying; ‘I, even I, am he that blots out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25 As far as the east is from the west thus far have I removed your transgressions from you; Psalm 103:12
‘Joy’ began to act in an even more unspeakable manner while ‘Praise’ sang with greater passion than ever before as relief turned to liberty around that old rugged cross. ‘Mercy’ grabbed ‘Goodness’ by the hand and they prayed and praised God for his redeeming love. Our reproach was surely rolled away. Joshua 5:9
On my left was ‘Whosoever Will’ Mark 8:34 dancing a jig as chains fell off at his feet, he was partnered by the abused, the defiled, the hurting and the forgiven out of ‘every kindred, tongue, people and nation’ Revelation 5:9
On my right ‘Thomas Doubt’ literally skipping like a spring lamb as doubt and unbelief were scattered at the sound of redeeming grace, guess who took him by the arm in new found freedom? That’s right ‘Mr Second Chance’ who had come seeking to be set free from ‘denying Christ for which he had often wept bitterly’ Matthew 26:75
‘Mourning’ suddenly appeared as it were out of nowhere, his staggering steps immediately turned to dancing, no longer in rags but ‘clothed with gladness’. Psalm 30:11 He was quickly followed by a whole stream of people who had seen the change in his life. There was ‘good old dependable ‘Faith’ who could move mountains in spite of his small stature. Matthew 17:20 ‘Virtue’ in his excellence encouraged ‘Knowledge’ who was in the ministry of setting people free. John 8:32 ‘Temperance’ joined hands with ‘Patience’ and took to the floor with ‘Godliness and ‘Brother Kindness’ and fair danced up a storm 2 Peter 1:5-7
Holding us all together was ‘Righteousness’ for while ‘Goodness ‘had led us to ‘Repentance’ it was righteousness that would lead us to heaven.
To my amazement there was a group of people who came to ‘Repentance’ went to the cross, laid down their burdens and took them up again. They remained on the outside of the crowd looking in, almost longing to join the festivities but couldn’t because of the baggage they carried.
One was ‘Bitterness’ who stood with his arms crossed, a stubborn expression on his face. Another was ‘Whisperer’ who simply could not stop him self speaking lies and sowing discord among the brethren. Proverbs 6:19 With them and standing bent over with the weight of their sin was; Selfishness who had no time in his busy schedule to consider the needs of others, ‘Lust’ who had substituted sex for real love, ‘Unmerciful’ who it seemed continually refused my friend ‘Mercy’ even though he knocked on his door every morning.
Each had those long faces one associates with church members who loved their religion more than Christ. It was as though they had a form of godliness but denied Christ the power thereof. 2 Timothy 3:5
‘Self Righteousness’ and ‘Pride’ stood tall and unyielding refusing to even consider that they were in need of change.
Suddenly gripped by the ‘godly sorrow’ 2 Corinthians 7:10 which I had gained at the place of Repentance, I approached the solemn group only to be stopped by arrogant ‘Religion’ who had a face like thunder. His head was fixed at a strange angle set on a stiff neck for he carried the biggest burden of all. His eyes were filled with hate and yet there was a longing to be free set deep behind the anger. He scowled at me, no, more like roared, his teeth gnashing at me as he uttered discouragement and scorn on my new found joy. Having not found peace for himself he was determined to destroy not only my new found liberty but my peace as well.
Some of this sad group had gained the whole world and lost their own soul, Mark 8:36. I found myself weeping; here they were in a place where burdens were lifted, where sin was removed and people, even ‘Whosoever Will’ had been set free and they still neglected this great salvation. Hebrews 2:3
They reminded me of clouds without water, carried about by winds, like trees whose fruit withered, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots. They appeared to me as raging waves of the sea foaming out of their own shame, like wandering stars Jude 1:12-13
I continued to tell them of the good news which I had found, about Gods great will to save them from their sins, to carry their burdens and to give them eternal life. However some had covered their eyes and others had covered their ears with their hands and simply walked away, leaving as they came.
I pleaded with God to send them someone more qualified than I to tell them of their great loss, and he replied; ‘even should someone rose from the dead they would not persuaded’ Luke 16:31
The laughter and the joy behind me drew me back and healed my aching heart and soon all tears were wiped away at the thought of the new life I had found.
On the long journey home from ‘Repentance’ my dear friend ‘Peace’ that at one time was elusive to me filled my soul with gladness. My eyes opened to see the true beauty of Gods great creation and as the dawn broke the sound of birds giving praise and thanks to the Lord of Glory was almost deafening. Why had I not see and heard this before? Can it be that I had been to busy seeking ‘things’ to see that God had ‘given me all things that pertain to life and to godliness’ 2 Peter 1:3
Dear ‘Goodness’ and ‘Mercy’ were overjoyed as they viewed the fruits of their labours, ‘Joy’ just could not stop smiling to himself while ‘Peace’ gently nodded off.
‘Grace’ had hitched a ride with us and literally adopted me on the spot saying, ‘The Lord saw you throwing away pride and humbling yourself James 4:6 at the cross, I have been assigned to help you grow in the knowledge of your Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18
He encouraged me to always come boldly to the throne of grace if I was even in need. Hebrews 4:16 ‘Faith’ interrupted and said, ‘If you ever have a need I can get you to ‘Grace’ in an instant so that you can stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God’ Romans 5:2
There was something very special about ‘Grace’ I had so much to learn about this ‘new and living way’ Hebrews 10:20 but instinctively I just knew that he was a gift from God and that he and ‘Faith’ were the reason I was saved. Ephesians 2:8
Here I am the least of all saints, yet God gives me ‘Grace’ as a lifetime companion so that I could tell others of the unsearchable riches Ephesians 3:8 I had found in Christ.
‘Grace’ revealed that Christ had made me accepted in the beloved, Ephesians 1:16 and that not only had I been redeemed through the blood of Christ, I had received forgiveness for all my sin, Ephesians 1:7 and to top in all, God had adopted me as well Romans 8:15
Unable to contain myself I burst out in song, my voice sounded like a old crow but I knew that my Abba, my Father in heaven wouldn’t mind, ‘Grace’ and ‘Mercy’ began singing in harmony and between us we made a joyful noise unto the Lord, Psalm 98:4 albeit a loud noise we rejoiced and praised God for his redeeming grace.
Finally as we arrived back in the village I could see a multitude of old friends and passing acquaintances waiting to see what had happened to us at ‘Repentance’ They crowded around the doorway of my small cottage and I felt such compassion for them I just could not send them away lest they fainted. Matthew 15:33
Goodness said, ‘you preach and heal the sick’ Luke 9:2 and I will lead them to ‘Repentance’
I started at the beginning and shared of how ‘Goodness’ had led me to ‘Repentance’ where I had found the Christ of the cross. I shared about the ever growing burden of sin and self I had carried all my life and how when I gave it to Christ he ‘removed it as far as the east is from the west.’ Psalm 103:12
Then it happened; the noise came, it was a sound of weeping as men and women began breaking free from their sins, the name of Jesus was on everyone’s lips. In weakness silent prayers mixed with groanings that cannot be uttered could be heard as the Holy Spirit enabled people to win the battle for their souls. Romans 8:26
Within minutes the poor and those with a broken and contrite heart fell to their knees seeking forgiveness as ‘Goodness’ led them to ‘Repentance’ Immediately God revived the spirit and the heart of those who had humbled themselves. Isaiah 57:15
What a change, ‘Joy’ walked into the middle of the crowds and laughter immediately broke out all around him; everyone he touched gained strength. Nehemiah 8:10 ‘Peace’ meanwhile sought out the anxious, the depressed and the fearful and healed them completely. The peace he gave was out of this world, John 14:27 and moments later they too were found dancing along with ‘Joy’
‘Righteousness’ on a more serious note reminded us to ‘put on the new man which after God is created in Righteousness and true holiness.’ Ephesians 4:24
It was party time around my home even though it was Sunday and some religious people kept scowling at us for daring to dance on the Sabbath. Don’t they know that the Sabbath was made for man not the other way round? Mark 2:27 I had assumed that the Sabbath day was a day of rest to be enjoyed not endured. To my amazement they got real mad when they saw a blind man receive his sight and a lame man who leapt up and walked before their eyes. What hypocrites I thought, if any one of their children had an accident they would be racing to the hospital Sabbath or no Sabbath. Luke 14:5
Day rolled onto night and still they came and still the power of God was there to heal them, they came many of them so sick they had to be carried. The lame, blind, dumb, maimed Matthew 15:30 simply reached out and touched Christ by faith and as many as touched him were made perfectly whole. Matthew 14:36
Demonic powers retreated from the village, those who were held in their vice like grip were delivered and made free because ‘he that the Son made free was free indeed. John 8:36
As we sat down for a late supper a knock came to the door, ‘Grace’ and ‘Mercy’ opened it wide and we saw a multitude of folk from surrounding towns filling the streets. They had brought sick people taken with different diseases and those tormented and possessed with devils even those who were lunatic and paralyzed and ‘God healed them all’ as we laid hands on them. Matthew 4:24
It was then that I realized my work had only just begun; I was ‘called to preach the kingdom of God in other cities also.’ Luke 4:43 Imagine me being ‘chosen of God and precious,’ 1 Peter 2:4 strange but true…
Early next morning after a time of prayer and worship we departed, ‘Goodness’, Grace’ and ‘Mercy’ led the way with ‘Joy’ ever smiling and ‘Peace’ taking up the rear of a growing column of liberated people.
Others ran to join us on our first ever ‘missionary journey’ ‘Mourning’ the one time misery now redeemed and given the name ‘Smiley’ grasped ‘Joys’ hand and literally did a jig in the middle of the road much to the delight of the children.
‘Righteousness’ stood by us at all times as if he was sent by God to protect us from self righteous thoughts.
In the shadows as always ‘Temptation’ and his companion ‘Discouragement’ did all they could to persuade people to follow them onto what was a much broader and seemingly easier road. Matthew 7:13 ‘Old Religion’ backed them up with half truths, lies and deceits using scriptures to persuade them to ignore the pleadings of the Holy Spirit.
What hypocrites I thought, ‘they shut up the kingdom of heaven and they neither go in themselves and then they hinder and prevent those who are entering.’ Luke 11:52
At a river crossing there was an elderly man half drowning people and with curiosity getting the better of me I asked ‘Grace’ who had great wisdom what was happening.
‘Baptism’ Matthew 3:11 he replied, ‘drowning more like’ I answered, ‘what’s it all about?
‘They are making an open declaration before God that they are dead to their old life and when they come up out of the water they are effectively entering into a new life’ said ‘Mercy’
That’s for me for I decided no longer wanting to live the lifestyle I once craved, I hated my past sinful ways and would rather die than return to the filth that it was. Thus I and others joined the crowd being baptized.
The old man spoke as I approached, and asked me why I wished to be baptized, to which I replied, ‘I no longer want to life for myself so today I give myself to die knowing that God in his mercy will resurrect me to a new life’
What an experience, and yet what followed was something words cannot express adequately. As I came up through the water fighting for breath I was filled with the same joy as my friend, filled with a power, compassion and an indescribable love to the point that I could not contain it.
I learned later from my mentor ‘Grace’ that while the old man had baptized me in water Jesus had baptized me with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Luke 3:16
As I opened my mouth God filled it Psalm 81:10 and I began to speak in a language that can only be described as heavenly. Those who joined me in being baptized also ‘began to speak in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them words to speak.’ Acts 2:4
I thought that I would explode with Joy as my lips gave way to the Holy Spirit and he spoke words of life, I and others whom he touched were ecstatic as the depth of what happened began to dawn on us.
As we went on our way ‘Grace’ took me to the one side and told me that I and others were empowered by the Holy Spirit and that signs and wonders would follow all who believed.
Wonders like power to cast out demons, speaking in new tongues, divine protection from our enemies and power to lay hands on the sick knowing that they would recover. Mark 16:17-19
Talk about excitement, imagine; Christ living in us, working with us and confirming his word with signs following, we simply ‘preached the good news and miracles and wonders happened everywhere we went.’ Mark 16:20
It wasn’t all a bed of roses for everywhere we went that old reprobate the devil stirred up people against us. Religious people who thought that they were doing God a favour were the most critical of all
We grew to know that while our salvation cost us nothing having been paid in full by Christ’s death on the cross, living for him, proclaiming his message of hope was going to cost us everything. We were shouted at, abused, beaten, stoned and thrown out of some places but man it was worth it all just to know we were in the centre of ‘Father’s’ will.
Some were imprisoned, many led perilous lives, we were all weary at times, we hungered and thirsted, we knew what it was to be cold and to live with little more than we carried on our back. 2 Corinthians 11:23-27. Would we change it and go back to what we had? No, not for the whole world for what would it profit us if we gained the whole world and lost our souls? Matthew 16:26
On another Sabbath we visited a local church for fellowship, we were no sooner in through the door when a crippled man met us and asked us to heal him. We told him to simply believe, for all things are possible to them that believe. Mark 9:23 Minutes later after we laid our hands on him he was healed completely.
The minister however was upset and vilified us for daring to heal the man on the Sabbath day. He shouted; is there not six days to work and to get healed and the Sabbath day is not one of them; Luke 13:34
We left thinking; why had he not exercised his faith to heal the man on one of the six days he spoke of?
As the weeks created months and then years we kept faithful to Gods calling believing that at any moment the Lord would return.
Was I ever tempted? Oh yes many a time when facing another wilderness to wander through, or when fasting and praying. That old reprobate the devil himself would tell me to give in, lead an easier life, stop making a fool of my self; he even offered me the world to leave Christ. But deep down I could not even begin to contemplate leaving the lost to a hellish eternity nor could I leave the one who gave his life for me.
Persecution never stopped instead it became more intense as we sent out the gospel far and wide, new nations to reach, new languages and more glory to be offered unto our great King.
All of us had walked out of our own personal Egypt’s , each of us have faced a Red Sea to be crossed and a wilderness to overcome but God was with us, he never left us or forsook us ever. Hebrews 13:5.
Some died to live again, sadly some fell away because of the persecution but those of us who are left are determined to go through to the Promised Land. Joshua 22:4
We have already faced our Jericho’s and watched God take them down wall by wall, we can truly say; he caused us to triumph in Christ, 2 Corinthians 2:14 over every enemy. We know that we are favoured because our enemies never triumphed over us. Psalm 41:11
When we were hungry he ‘abundantly blessed our provision,’ Psalm 132:15 when we thirsted he gave us ‘living water,’ John 4:10
Every time we faced an enemy we knew that God would be, ‘an enemy to our enemies and an adversary to our adversaries.’ Exodus 23:22
Even now in my old age, even though ‘I am white haired I know in my heart that the Lord will carry me and will deliver me’ Isaiah 46:4
Even with ‘Grace’ at our side we are aware that we can fall, but give thanks to God that, ‘though we may fall we shall not be utterly cast down for the Lord upholds us with his hand.’ Psalm 37:24
I thank God for ‘Grace’ and ‘Mercy’ indeed all those whom the Lord has given me as companions on this perilous journey, for ‘Joy’ who is my strength when I am weak, Nehemiah 8:10 ‘his merry heart makes our faces cheerful.’ Psalm 15:13
‘Peace’ has a knack of always arriving on time, often just when our hearts become fearful and disturbed.
And what of ‘Goodness’ the one who started it all, he is still leading people to ‘Repentance’ where the Lord heals the wounded and dips his grace into heart of sinners who come seeking forgiveness.
‘Righteousness’ who had joined us at ‘repentance’ remained with us every step of the way, always reminding us that ‘we have become the righteousness of God in Christ.’ 2 Corinthians 5:21
Old ‘Mourning’ got a name change for he cannot stop smiling sine he came to ‘repentance’ we renamed him, ‘Smiley’ because his smile is infectious even in the deadest of places. He can even liven up funerals so he sure has changed. Joy’s oil really did the trick for him while ‘Praise’ turned ‘Heaviness’ into a praise offering unto the Lord. Isaiah 61:3
Did I mention ‘Ashe? Well, she ‘exchanged ashes for beauty,’ Isaiah 61:3 and is now a ‘handmaiden of the Lord.’ Luke 1:48 w
What a great change in all of us, ‘no longer sinners away from God, for he through Christ has broken down and destroyed the wall that separated us from him.’ Ephesians 2:14
‘He brought us to himself when we were without Christ, having no hope without God’ Ephesians 2:12. GOD DID IT!!
A few of us entered a garden as evening drew near; we just needed to find a place of peace and quiet in order to receive strength for what lay ahead of us. Here in this place silence reigned as we prayed and applauded God for his love and grace. Darkness fell as we worshipped and sang songs, at one point it seemed as though we were joined by the heavenly host.
What a blessed place this garden was to us, it was here that ‘Grace’ introduced us to ‘Wisdom’ an awesome person who could open the book of books and reveal Christ in almost every page. It turned out that God had ‘given him the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation.’ 1 Corinthians 1:24
The sound of a thousand angels filled the air around us; music the like of which none of us had ever heard broke the silence and filled what seemed to be the whole world. A trumpet sounded, the air hushed, even the birds were silent on this night of nights.
Without any warning the music faded and the sounds hushed even more as a great light filled what seemed to be the whole world. It was a light ‘brighter than the noon day sun,’ no shadow dared visit this holy place; no disunity could approach, for ‘old things had passed away and all things had become new.’ 2 Corinthians 5:17
In the hushed silence no one stirred, no one spoke; we were in the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Truly ‘in his presence there is fullness of joy’ Psalm 16:11 yet no laughter escaped from the crowd.
Without prompting we began to ‘remove our shoes from off our feet knowing that this was holy ground.’ Exodus 3:5. The very air was ‘filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord;’ Habakkuk 2:14
A choir could be heard in the distance, sounds like I had never heard before filled what seemed to be the whole earth as the heavenly host lifted up their voices and sang; ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come’ Revelation 4:8
Suddenly we were ‘caught up, transported, and changed in the twinkling of an eye as the last trumpet sounded. All around us the dead in Christ were raised to go before us incorruptible and changed. Even this corruptible body of mine put on in-corruption and this mortal put on immortality as death was finally swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:52
How can mortal eyes describe what I saw for until now my ‘eye has not seen, nor my ear heard neither had it entered into my heart what things God had prepared for me because I loved him.’ 1 Corinthians 2:9
The scene before me was incredible; I have never seen such beauty, felt such peace nor known such joy in all my life. ‘There were no tears for God himself had wiped away all tears from our eyes. In this most heavenly place there is no more death, no sorrow, no sound of crying or no pain.’ Revelation 21:4
Here in this New Heaven and new earth Revelation 21:1 I saw a throne unlike anything I had ever seen before, around it there was a rainbow and four and twenty seats upon which were seated four and twenty elder’s clothed in white and wearing crowns of gold on their heads.’ Revelation 4:2-5
‘I saw a sea of the purest glass, so pure it looked like crystal was before and in the middle of the throne’ Revelation 4:6
Singing broke out as they worshipped the Lord God Almighty… ‘glory, honour, and thanks unto him that sat upon the throne who lives for ever and ever’ The 24 elders fell down before the one seated on the throne and cast their gold crowns down at his feet saying ‘You are worthy O Lord to receive glory, honour and power for you have created all things and for your pleasure they were created’ Revelation 21:6-11
Within minutes it seemed we were translated to a banqueting hall so vast that it could not be measured by human eyes. As we walked through the door we were given a change of clothing, my ‘old filthy rags for a pure white robe of His righteousness’ Isaiah 64:6 I quietly gave thanks as I began to realize in greater measure that ‘while I was still ungodly Christ died for me’ Romans 5:5
I looked around and saw people from every class and creed and colour and yet they were all at one with each other, equality sounded out across this great auditorium. ‘No schism’ no hatred, nor hurt nor harm in this Holy Place. 1 Corinthians 12:25 The total absence of sin was the key, it’s foul grip had been broken at Calvary but here in this place it was banished forever for ‘Christ alone has the keys to hell and of death’ Revelation 1:18
In this great house of God there was no sickness, no disease, and no pain, why even those who had lost limbs were made whole the moment they received their robe of righteousness.
The blind could not contain their excitement as for the first time they knew what the words ‘colour’ and ‘beauty’ meant.
Those who had been dumb sang at the top of their voice and could not be hushed in their new found gift while the one time deaf cheered them on.
They that had been broken hearted were healed as real love touched them while at the same instant the bruised and the downtrodden found true liberty. Luke 4:18
The tables spread before us was spread with ‘every good gift and every precious gift’ James 1:17 imaginable. However every eye was on the throne waiting to see ‘him that lived and was dead and behold he lives for ever more’ Revelation 1:18
‘Abraham’ came and started to wash people’s feet and ‘Moses’ still meek and humble followed him with a towel. ‘Samuel’ of old came and began to ‘anoint my head with oil from a jar which never seemed to run out.’ 1 Kings 17:14
‘David’ the ‘apple of Gods eye’ Psalm 17:8 watched over the children like a shepherd would his sheep while ‘Noah’ busied himself making wooden toys for the youngest as they squealed with delight.
‘Joshua’ with no more battles to win and no more Jericho’s to pull down, Joshua 6 busied him self ensuring that all would know the fullness of this new ‘Promised Land’
‘Paul’ the one time murderer and persecutor of the church Acts 22:4 threw his arms in a loving embrace to the poor, the least and the lonely, indeed everyone as they walked through the door their eyes ablaze at the wonders spread before them.
‘Peter’ and ‘Doubting Thomas’ ushered people into their seats making sure that no one felt uneasy, unwanted or unworthy.
Orphans were given their ‘adoption’ papers Romans 8:15 and widows were honoured for ‘giving all they had’ to the kingdom, Luke 21:2-3
Suddenly there was a commotion at the far end of our table, I could not see what was happening as the table stretched from eternity past to eternity future. Soon however a man dressed in strange robes was removed; it seemed ‘he didn’t have on a wedding garment. He was bound, taken away and cast out into darkness.’ Matthew 22:11-13
Everyone had a place name on the table and strangely each name was prefixed with the letters ‘E.X.’. Being curious I asked a passing angel what ‘EX’ meant and he replied, everyone here is a ‘new person in Christ the old has passed away and all things are become new’ 2 Corinthians 5: 17-18
The E.X. is to remind them what they were.
He continued; they were ‘E.X.’ murderers, adulterers, alcoholics, abusers, convicts, drug addict’s, idolaters, paedophiles, homosexuals and sinners of every kind imaginable, why there are even self righteous people who discovered Christ just in time.
All came through ‘Repentance’ just like you did; they discovered the Christ of the cross and received him as Lord and saviour, dropped of their burden of sin and followed him home.
‘In Christ every ‘EX’ was made new’ Revelation 21:5 ‘their name was written in the ‘Lambs Book of Life’ Revelation 21:27 and they are ‘absent from the body and present with the Lord’ 2 Corinthians 5:8
‘Mercy’ and ‘Truth’ had indeed met together again and ‘Righteousness’ and ‘’Peace’ kissed each other. Psalm 85:10
Running through this great enclosed space was the purest river I had ever seen, it was so clear that it was totally transparent, like crystal and as I sought its beginnings. I saw it begin at the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22:1. It was then that I saw the ‘Tree of Life’ a most amazing sight, which carried 12 different fruits and leaves that brought healing for every nation.’ Revelation 22:2
Everywhere my eyes wandered through this third heaven were sights no human had ever seen except perhaps the Apostle Paul. 2 Corinthians 12:2 there is ‘no night in this place, no need for candles or sunlight’ Revelation 22:5 for ‘the Lamb of God is our eternal light.’ Revelation 21:23
Suddenly every eye settled on the throne as the Lamb of God appeared, the applause was deafening as we stood to our feet to worship and to give thanks to ‘the Lamb who was slain from before the foundation of the world’ Revelation 13:8
‘And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, ‘Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:’
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
And again they said, Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, ‘Praise our God, all you his servants, and you that fear him, both small and great.’
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thundering, saying, ‘Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns.’
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come and his wife hath made her self ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, ‘These are the true sayings of God.’ Rev 19:1-9
I found my self prostrate before the King of King and Lord of Lords, my redeemer and my saviour with nothing to offer him but praise. I felt him smile and looked into eyes that looked like pools of crystal blue clear water. Compassion and joy filled the twinkle in his eye while Love reached down and said ‘well done good and faithful servant, enter into my joy’ Matthew 25:21
Words fail me to explain what happened next except to say at that exact moment every desire, every thing I ever dreamed of having, became mine. In an instant I knew what it meant to be ‘an heir of God through Christ. I was no longer a servant but a son,’ Galatians 4:7
While it was wonderful to be forgiven I now knew what it was to be HIS
What had begun as a days excursion to ‘Repentance’ thanks to my forever friend ‘Goodness’ it took me all the way to heaven and home
David Robinson (c)
