"Wanted" is my one completed manuscript, currently being revised/rewritten -- which was my summer project. Oh, well. I hope to take it to conferences in '08. It is a novel about a simple case of identity theft which grows into much more, eventually exposing corruption at high levels, all of which throws the (male) victim and the (female) FBI investigator into 90,000+ words of suspense, thrills, and maybe a little romance?
Novels on the back burner for now include:
"Nowhere Man" -- 56,000 words so far, about 2/3 though the plot. Dude can turn invsible.
"CUL8R" -- 25,000 words, about 1/4 done. Dude's online activity has IRL consequences.
"Power in the Blood" -- 25,000 words, about 1/4 done. In 2051, dude comes to know Jesus -- after 140+ years as a vampire.
"Country Church" -- 10,000 words, lots more to go. Human dramas playing out in a small church.

Ummm, aren't the percentages supposed to add up to 100%?
Mine? Well, I always have tons of stuff in some form of progress, at least I hope it's progress! LOL! There are numerous devotions and short stories begging to be finished. And I'm giving my non-fiction book Ready or Not...Here I Come! its hopefully final edit, while working on my proposal for an agent. A couple of other books are in the warming drawer!!!

Just finished up the first draft of my latest short story, a drama set during the 1665 Great Plague in London.
I'm working on a short devo series in Philippians at the moment, and I'm also co-ghostwriting a nonfic book chronicling a recent Christian movement through the perspective of the main guy who started the whole thing.
I've got a couple of other stories on the back burner that I'll probably dredge back up when I have more time, but at the moment, I've got more than I can handle.

Qismat I've got 45,000 wds--12 chapters written (9 edited and sent to my agent)
Kate's New Life (bad working title) A screenplay under construction . . . about 30 pages
That's about all I can do currently . . . the rest will have to wait.

2 novels. One, a modern fantasy set in Wales/Ireland/U.S. at the beginning of the 20th century - the other a young adult novel about superheroes. I started a non-fiction book with a great premise, and I recently re-read it. It's a piece of junk - so that's my work in digress.

Umm..too many things in progress. Editing my spy novel, starting to write my fantasy novel, and a couple of sci-fi short stories. I've gone mad! :)

2 the other a young adult novel about superheroes.
I started one of these years and years ago, and always wanted to revisit the idea.

I'm currently working on a series of historical booklets aimed at tourists. The first two, Tombstone and Historic Fort Huachuca. They aren't Christian but I'm looking at ways in which I can connect with non-believers. They are the beginning of my small, new publishing business ... Triple Cross Publishing. It's been a dream of mine for a long time ... the booklets, not the publishing side of it. But, it's also been something God has been leading me toward. Markets are abundant here in Cochise County and eventually, they'll be available on line as well. Target "official" start date for the business is January 2008. Once I have several in book stores and gift shops, then I'll get started on the next novel dealing with homelessness.

Currently working on a fantasy novel, Dreamers Come, about a man who learns that his dreams are really memories of another world.
I've also got several projects in various stages: editing my Crusade novel Behold the Dawn and sketching an outline for a piece called Sherwood, a combo of Robin Hood and Sleeping Beauty, that I'm co-writing more for kicks than anything.
BTW, even though I voted for "novel," I can still share the donuts... right? ;)

I am working on a poem for a contest at Silver Wings. This magazine comes out of California. The subject is "On Wings of Peace." Jackson Wilcox is the editor, and he also has a small Haiku journal, " Haiku Hippodrome." I have just finished two articles about current issues; i.e., politics, etc.
Sorry I have not logged in lately, but I am extra, extra busy. But aren't we all?
Happy Thanksgiving

Rebecca, Curious...again! How do the polls keep adding up to more than 100%?

were we allowed to vote on more than one, I can't remember? Because there are 47 votes, but it says "38 voters" and is dividing the numbers by 38 ... so it does add up to about 125%. Weird.

I'm currently attempting to write a novel about a man who is addicted to porn and what his addiction does to his family. What do you all think out there - Is that too heavy of a subject for the average Christian reader? Any ideas how I can show his addiction without getting too graphic? Help!!

I think this is a great idea for a novel! My latest published short story is about this subject (though in a somewhat oblique way), and is being published in a secular publication (though my story treats the subject within the scope of Christian morals).
I would say that a Christian writer, even more so than a non-Christian, needs to be willing to hit this highly relevant subject head-on. Not as a polemic or a preachy diatribe (people get enough of that kind of stuff, IMO), but as an honest, unflinching look at the effects of porn usage in someone's life. How it affects marriage, family, friendships, job, etc. etc.
As for how to treat it without getting too graphic...that's a more difficult one to call, since one person's line bordering prurience is different than another's--even within Christian circles. You want to show enough to tell your story effectively and unflinchingly without causing someone to stumble into sin. Very difficult indeed. I'd say tell things as graphically as you feel is appropriate and then run things by some readers you can trust.
Particularly with porn, one of the best things you can do is bring it out into the light--it thrives on darkness and secrecy. A well-written novel that isn't afraid of showing it in all its depravity has a real chance of making a serious impact if you can figure out how to successfully walk the line I mentioned earlier.

I'm working on a book called "Healing Rain". When I came up with the idea it was just going to be a compilation of poems I wrote as I dealt with and was healed from the effects of severe abuse. The poems show a full gammet of emotions in all the different stages of the healing journey, as well as God's unending love and faithfulness through it all.
I have gone back and forth in my mind about whether or not I should include pictures I drew and short journal exerpts to add some depth and maybe provide a backdrop for the poems. I'm definitely open to thoughts on that.
The other quandry I'm having with it is how to protect the not innocent but forgiven. I've put off working on the book just because I feel like I should edit the poems that identify the abuser but I don't know if that's the right thing to do or not. I'm still praying about it. I don't want the book to come across as accusatory or stone throwing - it's about the journey and my prayer is that it will help others find the healing and restoration that I have found in Christ.
I added a post to the Writers Lounge titled "Project need input" about this project so if you have thoughts about this please share them there so they don't get lost!
Anyway, that's my current WIP.

I'm working on a screenplay, too -- my first. It's a romantic comedy, and I'm spurred on by a class at the local junior college.
