Every rejection you receive makes you one rejection closer to publication :o

Hey, what's the deal? I had forgotten all about the rejection slip I got today until I read this post. Come to think of it, I had forgotten about the submission until I got the rejection too... Oh well...
Anyway, I have submitted a "Winning" true story to The Christian Reader myself, about once a year for their annual writing contest for about six or seven years in a row. This year I passed as I think maybe they just don't appreciate me... (Actually I just couldn't conjure up a good enough story. The subject was on God's humor. More one for Cawheat than myself... sometimes I think I'm just too serious...)
I haven't taken it to heart. I figure it's their loss. One of my pending projects I have every intention of creating is going to be titled "Christian Reader Writing Contest Rejects." It's one of my pet projects... I'm not at all bitter, I'm smiling and always keeping in mind that God has perfect timing!!! Keep your chin up and your nose to the grindstone! Perseverance pays; of this I am quite certain!

BrotherDave, as long as you don't give up then you're one step closer to your goals and dreams.
I'm sure you know of the hundreds of times Edison failed on the lightbulb before getting it right (not exactly the same as a story rejection, but it still proves a point).
Keep at it, and as others have said...
Never give up, never ever give up!

Just to let you all know. I asked Christian Reader what kind of stories they wanted and they said they are looking for holiday stories right now. They always seem to want "holiday" stories.
10 years ago I sold "Jesus in New York" to them, as an Easter story.
So, when you submt a story, remember, the best way to get bought is to
offer what the mag wants. I'm considering a Christmas story, but I know I'd
better be quick about it. Maybe I'll look toward Easter, too.

It's so very comforting to be among you all on this board. We all need to pray for each other, and support each other with our words, too.
