Random Chapters

When a publisher asks for "randomly selected chapters" do they literally want just that and not chapters in order? And if so, does anyone have advice on which chapters to select? Your best ones? The first and last, or what?

Well, considering that most publishers want a synopsis of the story, I think they want you to send the BEST chapters in the novel, even if they are chapters 7, 15 and 33. The synopsis tells them what happens in the book, so they won't be lost (hopefully). Just be sure to introduce your charactors (I'm not sure if it's applicable in your case, you might want to write and ask, but they may want a short summary of everything that happened before the chapter you submitted, including all previously intruduced characters).
