They all look good to me !!
Though other sites are more geared to 'social networking' and we should continue to lean more toward writing orientated.

Could you give a brief description of each?

Sure thing!

Writer Markets - Lists of publications seeking material from writers

Author Showcase/Ezine - A spot for members to post short works for others to read, rate and comment. Section would include links for fans or publishers to contact the author through the CW email/PM system

Specialty Sections - Areas which specialize in a special topic, such as poetry, fiction, etc.

Book Shop - A spot for writers to post links to their favorite books, including their own books. This would link directly to Amazon for purchasing.

Social Networking - Enhanced profiles and networking abilities

Member Blogs - For members to post their own thoughts. This wouldn't necessarily be a dedicated blog, but would be interspersed with blog entries of other writers, yet also sort by author name

I wish we could vote for two! Now that you have put up the defs, I see another one I would vote for. BTW, would the special sections include devotionals?

Not in the "special sections," but we could certainly include devotionals in a showcase/ezine type area.

Oh, that would be great. I know I'm not the only one who would like to do devotionals. I hope that can be included. Thanks, Rebecca.

I'm going to show my Ignorance here

Writer Markets - Lists of publications seeking material from writers

Author Showcase/Ezine - A spot for members to post short works for others to read, rate and comment. Section would include links for fans or publishers to contact the author through the CW email/PM system Other than the links I can't see a big difference in this and the writing forums we all ready have. I'm sure I'm missing something here.

Specialty Sections - Areas which specialize in a special topic, such as poetry, fiction, etc. Same here I don't understand how this would be different from the nice poetry and fictions forums we have to chose from now.

Book Shop - A spot for writers to post links to their favorite books, including their own books. This would link directly to Amazon for purchasing.

Social Networking - Enhanced profiles and networking abilities this one sounds really interesting to me.

Member Blogs - For members to post their own thoughts. This wouldn't necessarily be a dedicated blog, but would be interspersed with blog entries of other writers, yet also sort by author name this one sounds really cool too.

Great question.

Hi Jacks Girl,

No ignorance on your part at all -- I was whipping through the response and probably wasn't as clear as I should have been. ;)

The showcase/ezine is for completed works which the author wants to showcase to the public. The workshops are restricted to new members and guests, and are intended for works in progress.

It's not too different, but rather a matter of convenience. For instance, a poet could visit this section, and any new workshop entries, showcase entries, links and markets pertaining to poetry would be listed here, on one page.

Hope this helps clarify! :)

Great survey and I too would've liked to vote for more than one.

You're doing a fantastic job on this site. And, I think it's one of the best sites on the net. Lots of interaction among members but also places to go for more information.

Whenever I have a question, this is where I come. There's an element of trust among members and that's important.

Blessings, Francine

ok wow! I love the look of all of these, how can I choose? I think some of the most important would be the Bookshop and the writers market. Otherwise, I like all of them! :)

I'm new to this web-site, but honestly, as a writer that has not been published I'd love to have some more conatct with agents and publishers.
I would like to publish my stories on this web-site, if there was a safe way to do so, and if an agent would see them.

Writers' markets are very helpful to both non published writers and published writers. They list the names of publications, their addresses and what type material they are looking to publish.
If you are a writer trying to be published, writers' markets are the most helpful unless you know all the editors and publishers.
