Prior warning of next dissappearing act.
On Monday we travel to Northumberland for a few days with my older brother. We're staying there until Saturday (but he goes off from the Thursday so we get a couple of days to ourselves in his house). Northumberland is a wonderful area - as well as Lindisfarne (Holy Island) there are some glorious places of natural beauty and copious castles in various states of repair. I'm desperate to visit Lindisfarne Abbey to take some photos of 'the rainbow arch' to go with an old poem. The whole area is steeped in the history of Christianity. I've also booked a visit to meet Mary Fleeson at the Lindisfarne Scriptorium. It's well worth doing a google on 'Mary Fleeson' - she's a very talented lady. We have had one e-mail correspondence with each other, apart from being a caligrapher and poet, she is well involved in the Celtic way of worship.
On the Saturday (18th August) Val and I travel a 100 miles South to stay in a little converted Methodist chapel, just outside Whitby, for a week. Yup that's Dracula country. We'll have the week to ourselves, exploring the Esk valley and some of the delights of Whitby Folk Festival (which lasts the week !). Whitby abbey is also on the itinery as I want to get some shots of the graveyard with its weather-worn grave stones.
So (as touching the computer is on the 'banned' list) I won't be posting between Sunday 12 and Sunday 26 August. I am allowed to take the camera and what passes for my brain with me though.
