Next week I'm going to be in Northumberland (England - near the border with Scotland) to see my (much) older brother for a few days. I hope to spend at least one day on Lindisfarne (Holy Island). This place is a bulwark of Celtic Christianity - a tidal island which is reached via a causeway but only when the tide is out. There's a number of places on the island we want to visit - the ruins of the abbey are really quite beautiful and the existing church has the spiritual ambience that only comes with longevity of a life of worship and prayer. But we've promised ourselves a visit to the 'Lindisfarne Scriptorium' to see Mary Fleesons work - amazing calligraphy. We're intending to buy ourselvs a wall hanging as a late anniversary present to ourselves (8th of August is our 37th wedding anniversary - thats 37 years 1 wedding, not 37 weddings) - treat yourselves to a look at some of her work:

I e-mailed her to say we're dropping by and she's told me to introduce myself.

The Lindisfarne Gospel is one of the greatest works of Celtic art of all time... That sounds awesome Keith.

/sigh

I find myself envying you far too often.

Wow, do I envy (I think that's a sin) your trip. What beautiful works. Hope you have lots of pictures.

Ah, envy is infectious! What a wonderful sounding trip. Do tell us all about it when you return. I've always wanted to see the beauty of England. Maybe you can upload some pictures for us. And by the way, Happy Anniversary. I'm sure glad you're sharing your 37th with only one wife! Have a great adventure. May it be blessed. !thumbsup!
