I posted this in Member Support but I think I will reiterate it here. I wanted to thank every member of this site for their kindness, generosity, and willingness to help those of us who are still struggling newbies at this frustrating yet rewarding task we have chosen, or rather the Lord has chosen for us, called writing.
I have been to other groups and they do not even come close to the comradery of those of you here. Thank you. You mean more to some of us than you will ever know.
Tommielyn said it best:
First posted by Tommielyn: I find it very interesting that, among the professions to which we humans aspire, in most of them one finds jealousy and back-biting, but, among writers, one finds help and encouragement. Other writers form a cheerleading squad, urging us on, propping us up and giving us the information we need.
Thanks, Tommielyn. Perfect. !thumbsup!

Perhaps the reason we're open to anyone is because we all know we're all still learning too? Maybe that's one of the humbling things about writing - no matter how much you know, there's always worlds more to learn. The backbiting tends to come from people who think they know everything already!
I'll add my thank you - y'all have been great! I came in with stuttering questions and glaring beginner's arrogance - and lookee here, now I have a 1st draft under my belt! Couldn't have done it without you all! :)

I'd like to add my two cents' worth (rather, with inflation, it might be 25 cents now!) -- I'm new, I have so much to learn, it is discouraging at times when trying to get one's works noticed and "out there." I've found kindness and acceptance here. I hope it never changes, because "the world is no friend of grace." We must stick together as Christians and help each other.
I have so much to learn myself, as we all do.
I find that the older I get, the less I realize I know! Gosh, and we thought we knew it all as teenagers, didn't we???
Anyway, as another southerner, thanks, y'all!

I join you in your expression of thanks to the folks here at CW. I've learned so much, have received so much encouragement and help, but realise I have failed to say "thank you" often enough.
Holly Lisle, a full-time writer, says in "Mugging the Muse," a free ebook she has available on her site that contains advice for beginning writers, that offering the book and other help for writers is a sort of "paying it forward," i.e., instead of trying to "pay back" all those who helped her when she was getting started, she tries to help others who are getting started.
I'm not acquainted with her work, have never read any of her books (she writes sci-fi and fantasy, I read mysteries and westerns), but I do appreciate her attitude, and maybe I'll have to give in and read one of her sci-fi books as a way of saying thanks.:p
