Okay, from my short writing experience, I've had a few Creative Writing classes that helped broaden my imagination and also a few the cramped it.

Where I live there's a local college - sort of a junior college - that's inexpensive and I've been back and forth over the idea of taking a Creative Writing class there.

So, from experience, do most of you authors find Creative Writing classes helpful or hurtful to what you're already working on? Or any other thoughts, advice, or comments when it comes to this subject?

Thanks!

I loved the creative writing class I took. I can't say I learned a lot regarding technique (although I did learn some) but it was excellent for helping me to learn to accept & even look forward to criticism/critiques as I saw how stories I was content with became better after each review.

If you've already taken a few classes, what are you hoping to gain from another class? Is it something that might be better obtained through interaction with a club/guild/forum?

I totally agree with that. If you ever want to obtain any success (however you gage success) you must learn to be thick skinned about your writing. A writing class will do that. Nothing is as humbling as someone putting a red pen to your paper and bleeding all over it. I hated the process, but it made me a better writer.
