He will exalt himself and defy every god there is and tear down every object off adoration and worship. He will position himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is God. -2Thessalonians 2:4
If you were asked, “What is the one thing missing from the skyline of Jerusalem today?” What would you say? Some will say this, while others will say that, but a Bible student will pretty much agree that it is the Temple of Solomon. But where is this Temple today? It was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans.
However, according to the above scripture the Temple will reappear shortly. But how can this Temple be built and when? Many will ask. I really don’t know, but it will not take as long as many think.
In the early 1990’s, I was on my sofa watching the World Series between the Oakland A’s and the San Francisco Giants, which was abruptly interrupted by an earthquake and a series of aftershocks which soon followed. The reason I remember this event was because I was home sick that day with a terrible cold, and as I laid there, I remember the room swaying, and I said to myself, “I must really be sick!”
But as the players and other celebrities began to assemble out in the center of the ballpark I realized I was witnessing an earthquake, and then the network cameras started to broadcast events around the Bay area, and there was one scene that my mind could not focus in. It was a picture of the Bay Bridge, with a whole section collapsed onto the lower deck. I looked and looked at this scene but could not tell what I was looking at, and then it dawned on me that I was looking at a section of the bridge which had collapsed.
Next, there were scenes of section after section of the oncoming ramps to the Bay Bridge which had completely falling to the ground. Such devastation left me and many others without words to describe what we all were watching on the evening news.
Although this earthquake was one of the most shocking events of our times, I think the recovery time was just as amazing as this catastrophe which shocked thousands of people. Another example of an amazing recovery time was seen in last month’s destruction of a section of the oncoming ramp to this same Bay Bridge which was destroyed when a tanker truck crashed and started a fire, is set to reopen by the end of this month.
And who can forget the devastation and destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City in 2001, but to look at the site today, one would be truly amazed at the clean-up of that area.
In the natural I find it very strange, that the nations which were on the front page of our newspapers three thousand years ago are back in front and center in the news today. The antichrist is coming and he is heading for Jerusalem. But why some will ask? He’s heading to Jerusalem to sit in the Temple. What Temple you may ask?
