Hi,

I would assume that your agent should be based where you primarily want to market your book.

The nationality or location of your agent isn't so important as their ability to do the job you need done and their contacts.

Today we live in a global society. With cell phones and the Internet it is easier than ever to connect with people. Agents can live just about anywhere and still make contact.

Having said all that I would point out that if you are attempting to reach a British market and want an American Agent there should be a good reason for reaching across the water to get that agent. Someone in Britain probably will be more likely to meet folks in person. Sometimes that is where the best deals are made...from what I have read.

 I AM PRETTY MUCH INTERESTED IN KNOWING THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION. I ALSO WRITE ALTHOUGH I HAVEN'T BEGUN TO THINK OF PUBLISHING YET .STILL , IF I DO AM I LIMITED ONLY TO MY OWN COUNTRY OR TO THE LOCATION OF MY AGENTS ALONE? I AM A NIGERIAN LIVING IN NIGERIA- DOES THIS RESTRICT MY WRITING IN ANY WAY. I NEED TO KNOW. THANKS AND GOD BLESS.

I know it's not uncommon to have different agents for different market areas (i.e. one for North America, one for Europe, etc.)

We'll pray for your mission!
