I saw the old thread about business cards today. Wanted to share the small amount of information I have on the subject. You can take it for what you will.

Miss Snark is a well-respected literary agent in the secular world. She keeps a blog which answers readers' questions about the publishing world and industry. Someone asked her specifically about business cards recently, and here's what she said:

Granted, the Christian publishing industry may be different from the secular industry, but either way it's useful info. Her blog has much useful insight, but only if you're not offended by her decidedly NON-Christian perspective and language.

Hope this helps!

Hmm... Funny. My wife, who is not a writer, was trying to design some business cards yesterday, but none of the designs went through.

Maybe this thread came just in time.

Good link.

Here's when you DO need business cards:

1. When you write for magazines. (I always include a business card with each manuscript I've been asked to submit. Sure, most editors keep electronic files on their writers, but giving them a business card ensures they get all my contact info. Please note, I don't send business cards with queries.)

2. When you have a book to promote. (I send business cards in all my non-writing mail...even bills. You never know when a card will meet up with a potential reader.)

3. To network. (When you tell people you're a writer, a business card makes it seem more official. And who knows? They might need their next business brochure written by a pro.)
