It's official! The winner of the 2006 Bat Cave Valentine Poetry Contest is "God's Love" written by our own hizwilldc! Congratulations! We will soon have your name up in lights on the front page of our forum! You are CW's very own 'poet of love,' in this case God's Love! Well done!
And thanks to everyone who participated. We had a number of really excellent poems and I know those that voted had their work cut out for them trying to decide which one they liked best!
But now for the unveiling. We get to see who wrote what, so if you have been out there thinking, 'I bet I know who wrote THAT one!' Wonder no more! I have gone through the list of poems and placed the authors name at the bottom of each one. Once again, thank you all for another fine contest.

I look around and wonder what next
Right from where I am irony is prevalent
The universe displays God’s majesty
Splendor, authority and constant love
The living creatures, weather and people
I cannot deny the existence of God
My mother is dying of cancer
My brother is hooked into drugs
My sister is a high profile prostitute
Whether I exist or live I don’t know
Out in the cold and homeless
Being in an abusive relationship
Yet I know that God is in control
Even though I do not feel convinced
His love for me I will never doubt
I only need to believe not to understand
That his love will pull me through

As Days Flew By
The very first time I saw you,
It was special how we met
You took me by complete suprise
I knew my heart was set
As days flew by, we talked again
Although I made a fast approach
Our friendship grew and grew
I realized how deep I cared
But the feeling I felt was new
In time, I became attacged to you
From a hug, I wouldn't and didn't want to let go
I started to see how close we were
And the feeling was good to know
The minutes without you turned into days
And the sconds with you flew by fast
I could only wish to see you more
And make each moment last
The time I spent with you,
Were what made my heart complete
I knew one thing for sure,
Without you, my future was obsolete
And so each night besides my bed,
When there's only starts to imagine seeing,
I pray that we may give up
And will remain friends forever

Look to God’s perfect love,

Even a heart that has been ripped out and unsealed,

He can heal a broken heart and wounded soul.

The Clam
The little clam, protected by its shell
Ventures a peek at the world outside.
Slowly it opens the closed door of it’s smile
And dares to stick its nose between the lids of its prison
Will anyone notice my vulnerability
Pass by and give me a kiss
Or stab me and watch me bleed
So easily am I bruised by the slightest misintent
Can no one see I long to be free
To feel, to breathe, to love and be loved
I want to show my pearl, hidden under my soft side
Slowly formed by the pain of trampled trust
The pearl is my only gift
Precious, costly, all I have
I want to give it freely but if I do
Will it be stolen and never returned?
The clam thought about these things and
pondered them in its heart
There are no guarantees only risks
But if the clam dies having never given its pearl
It will never know its worth
