Hi folks-

I have been blessed to launch a web magazine that targets young and emerging artists who are interested in comics, Anime, manga and exciting ways to communicate God's word through their gift.

We launched on July 4th 2002 and are averaging roughly 1000 impressions per month.

Our articles have been a combination of spiritual themes as well as practical art resource related topics. We will be doing this and more interviews/articles in 2003.

For 2003, I need a Christian writer who can take certain ideas for articles (or submit their own ideas) or conduct interviews with some of our Christian artist affiliates for our bi-monthly web publication.

We are seeking sponsors to help finance the entire initiative, so it may start with little to no pay, but then increase as we increase.

If interested or have questions, visit our site and reply on this forum with questions:

Hi there. I read your post. I also checked out the site. I'm not into action heros so I felt I had nothing to offer... the right person is out there!

I wish you the best!

Sincerely,

Don't be discouraged. I'm an action hero in my dreams but I don't write about it. :)

Ah! Just what our self-centered, easily bored, MTV-watching "Christian" young people need - more fantasy!

If you want to HELP them (vs. getting them to like you) tell them to go overseas and see what real life is about.

"The grace of God has appeared, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age..."

"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
"

Ignore the last sour grapes post from anonymous. Even Jesus spoke in parable to make His lessons more managable for the masses...

Stay focused!

Amen Chad. However, I know in many countries overseas our youth would find the real world if they visited there. BUT they're not over there - they're here - in our MTV world. So it's like you said, even Jesus spoke in parables so people could understand His message of salvation. He was the Master Teacher, so why not follow His example? Makes perfect sense to me.

Hi! I am interested in learning more! Not sure I'm hip enough...but I'm curious. I do some correspondence work for a small newspaper. I'm looking to expand. I've got some personal spiritual articles and a lovely story on my father-in-law and the family he raised. I am "observational" by nature and God has graciously allowed me to be able to put some of these observations in writing.

Looking forward to hearing more.

I would be very interested in helping you out. I enjoy fantasy literature and to be quite frank, to many of our youth Jesus is just another fantasy. I am sure that this would be a great work to bring people who would not otherwise pay attention into the Good Shepherd's fold. I have yet to publish anything, but have written for many years. I would be honored to help you in this adventure. Please reply to my email address if I can be of help.

Hi,

I'm a writer and producer working for the largest distributor of Anime in the States.

I think your project is a really interesting one! Christian themes in extant Anime are very rare, though some of the more "westernized" titles are showing the influence of Christianity.

If haven't really done a huge survey, but most of the titles I have seen are strongly ant-western value in general (including Christian thinking). But what a great way to appropriate the potential for a good purpose!

Hope your venture has great success! If you'd like an article from the inside of the biz, lemme know!

P.S.

Do you have a mission statement somewhere?

I visited your site, but couldn't find one in particular.

For those of you that requested more information, ive sent you emails that give you a little more insight on the direction that we're headed in.

If you didn't get an email, let me know and I make sure to contact you.

Meanwhile, if you haven;t already seen it, our latest edition of the webzine is actually a virtual Art show showcasing the art of Christian artists and their rendition of Angels!

Hi...I'm kinda in a rush so I didn't look at your site "yet." I am an artist, mostly digital, and I write poetry. (I turned 25 yesterday.) I just finished my first small story in March. I've been trying to get my Christian artwork published, but companies continue to tell me my work doesn't fit in with there's. I think mainly because my favorite color is black. I use it consistently, which really makes it stand out from the rest.

Anyway...I believe the Lord has given me a cool idea for a story "and" it's also reality. I've been trying to figure out how to write it but I think it would only work in comic book form because of the details in it. I can tell you my idea if you still need somebody. Besides, I love to stand out and have something original, never before seen material. It makes it even cooler and more glory goes to Jesus.

A link to my art should be with my profile if you want to look at it. My writing is on this website: www.ourchurch.com/member/e/EJStyle. Alrighty then...thanks for your time. Jesus loves you.:) Peace...

Hold on...the little house with the "www" next to it is where you find my art. Hhhmmm....the link above to my writing isn't working so I'll try it again. www.ourchurch.com/member/e/EJStyle Okay...that should do it. :) Peace...

I'd love to contribute! I've been reading comics all my life and would love to help weave an action story that will change the life a young person and possibly lead them to Christ (plus the fact of seeing a comic book with my name on it is a dream come true!). Please send me more information. Thanks!:D

Hi Brian.

I saw the info on your site and I'm very impressed. Here's the 2 opportunities that we have now:

The immediate need:
We always need contributing writers to write articles related to comics and/or comic art, anime, manga, etc., all from a Christian perspective.

The other need:
Seeking the writer of the Biblical story of Gideon ( Judges chapters 6 and 7) that our artist will create a Sci-Fi look for. The script will be submitted to EPIC for their consideration. We do not wish to take too much creative license with the story, just re-telling the story in a concise scripted format targetting teens especially. If the submission is selected by EPIC, will share the payout with writer.

Here are some illustrations that hopefully give you the idea of the "look" and feel of the project:

What kind of articles are you interested in having someone write? I've done writing for adults and for children and have been published in Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr.
If you would like to give me a list of sample topics perhaps we might discuss this further?
Sincerely,

Hi CheriLeigh-

Here are a few articles that we previously posted. Of course most of these are art/comics related, but all the articles don't have to be:

We'd like to do more interviews on Christian comic artists such as those found here:
Makar Studios (http://www.makarstudios.com/AboutUs.htm)
Ann Niko (http://www.psychoteers.com)
Ee Fei-Wen (http://www.geocities.com/eefavian/)
and other topics of interest to creative Christians (or to reach the creative non-Christian) (http://www.geocities.com/tonysnipes/lesson.htm)

I hope these can give you some idea...

Hello,

I am new to illustrating, and I would like to present art for a picture book, accompanied by a manuscript. What is the best paper to use? How should it be mailed off? Can you tell me what to do to make an excellent presentation? Your answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sincerely,
