Most blogs are hosted by websites that are dedicated to that type of writing. Blogs are just another form of communication via writing so what if ChristianWriters.com itself hosted blogs?

It could be done. Anyone else interested in this idea?

From http://sbinfocanada.about.com/cs/blogarticles/f/blogdef.htm

According to Webopedia.com, a blog (short for Weblog) is "a Web page that serves as a publicly-accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author".

I've considered having a weblog but haven’t found the time to work on it. I barely have time to update my own website :(

Business week did a cover story on the importance of weblogs. You can read it here: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_18/b3931001_mz001.htm

Patrick, thanks so much for the link. It was a really interesting article.

I resisted blogs at first, but now I'm glad I'm involved. In fact, I have two blogs and on one of them I can upgrade and get all kinds of goodies ... like knowing how many have visited, etc. Not sure yet but I'm looking awfully hard at that.

Anyway, I've been pleased. Not too many comments but then I've heard that a lot of folks don't post comments. Not sure about that either.

I think blogs are really going to help folks with like interests connect with each other and I consider mine a ministry.

Blessings to all, Francine

Hey everyone,

I'll admit that I was reluctant to venture into the Kingdom of Blogdom until I realized that I'd get a lot more actual writing done by writing several small articles as opposed to plans for writing several long articles which are also in the works, I just have no time to write longer articles at this point. (Full-time jobs always get in the way...) So I decided to start my own blog, JesusfreakBlog.com (http://www.jesusfreakblog.com), which actually is being hosted by ChristianRock.net (http://www.christianrock.net) (a great online station if you like harder-edge Christian music, by the way) and once I got my blog up and running, I noticed something rather...unfortunate??...about a lot of blogs.

I think the Internet in general and blogs in particular are leveling the playing field with regard to "publication" of one's thoughts. However, a lot of blogs I've seen are little more than personal diaries of the most mundane details. It's not bad to write that you went to lunch with so-and-so today, but give us some details that we can relate to since we probably don't know so-and-so and don't know what your lunch conversation was about, unless you write that, too. We in the writing community (as opposed to the blog community at large--I think those of us who write for a living can appreciate both the ability to write AND the need to be interesting) can take blogging to new levels if we can offer Web surfers a steady stream of intriguing content and hopefully meaningful discussion of issues. I think Christians especially could use blogs as a means not only of sharing their faith but also as a means to dialogue with others about faith issues.

I realize that general message boards have been around since the dawn of the Internet, but a lot of forums such as those are merely of a general nature and unfortunately sometimes devolve into flaming wars. However, I think blogs can really help grow any of various niches online and become a really big thing not just in terms of the number of people involved in blogging, but in meaningful, interactive content as well. These can be great places to both get our writing in front of people (I'm thinking especially about faith issues) and to help blogs become more mainstream among other believers, because unfortunately it still seems like a lot of Christians have yet to realize the significance of the Internet as a tool for spreading the Gospel.

I'll get off of my soapbox now and wait to see what all of you think. :) Anyone?

I enjoyed reading that. My blog will be on family life, so to speak. Mine will be on the cute , and funny things that my grandchildren say in everyday settings as when they travel on trips with us, and home musings. I am sure that it will be interesting and ongoing! Rosalie Ross

Another yes vote.

Or have the polls closed?

What happened to the idea?

I've never blogged, but I haven't joined posting forums like this either (see, I don't even know what this kind of group is called!!)...I would be up for it. Seems like a good way to journal thoughtfully (key word, thoughtfully) and get some possible feedback on those thoughts...so I would think it would be a cool addition to this site...

There won't be any CW hosted blogs anytime in the near future. Sorry for the confusion guys. We pretty well hashed this out in another thread a while back. You can start your own blog elsewhere and list it in the resource directory though.
