Greetings everyone! My name is Dr. Ab Abercrombie and I am the publisher for new bi-monthly magazine called Christian Family Journal. It is currently a regional publication in the Florida Panhandle, Alabama, and Mississippi. Our first journal will come out in July 2005. We need articles that match our writer's guildelines. Our website will be up and available in about two weeks. Until then, here are the criteria and contact information. We'd love to hear from you. God bless you!!
Welcome
Welcome to Christian Family Journal, a bi-monthly magazine bringing direction and hope to the American home. The publication is available at various outlets throughout the Gulf Coast of Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. Our mission is as follows:
• To touch individuals and families with the reality and grace of Jesus Christ.
• To provide support, education, and encouragement through the presentation of articles that are grounded in sound biblical truths.
• To teach biblical principles in a manner that is directly applicable to the lives of our readers.
• To advance the work of God’s Kingdom through outreach, evangelism, and discipleship.
Christian Family Journal is written for the Christian home and for individuals and families who are still searching for answers and truth beyond what the secular world can offer.
Jesus said:
"I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12).
We are committed to sharing the “light” of Christ with the American home. In His light we find answers, direction, hope, and eternal life.
There has never been a more critical time for families in this country. Divorce are rates approaching 50% and 40% of our children live in single-parent homes. Our prayer is that God will advance His Word, His wisdom, and His will through this journal, and that your hearts will be renewed, your spirits refreshed, and your lives and families forever changed through His never ending love.
Thus we reach across denominational lines to the entire Body of Christ. We solicit your prayers, your support, and your readership; and we ask you to share this material with others who need relationship and/or renewal with Jesus.
God bless you!!!
Writer’s Guidelines
Christian Family Journal welcomes articles from free-lance authors around the country. Both experienced and first-time writers are encouraged to submit for publication. Presently, we are seeking articles that advance the mission and purpose of the publication. Sample articles fall into the following categories:
• Feature Articles highlight a well-known (regionally, nationally, or internationally) individual and/or ministry. These articles should be 1200 to 1500 words and are written in an interview or journalistic style. The writer is the observer and inquirer. Features could include high profile pastors, churches, ministries, missionary efforts, evangelism, Christian civic leaders and politicians, entertainers, and sports figures.
• Teaching Articles focus on the application of biblical truth to everyday Christian and family life. These articles should be 800 to 1000 words focused on a single principle of healthy Christian living that is scripturally well supported. We are eager to receive submissions that pertain to:
o Marriage and Family Issues
o Communication and Intimacy
o Parenting
o The Christian single life and dating
o Discipleship and growth in the Christian life
o Christian service
o Prayer and Bible study
o Money management and faithful stewardship
o Evangelism
o Spiritual Warfare
o Physical Health and Wellness
o Hospitality
• Articles of Testimony are designed to convey God’s work in the life of an individual, family, church, or community. These articles are 500 to 800 words and can be written either as a personal testimony or from a reporter’s perspective. Testimonials also should be supported with Scripture and should be evangelistic in nature. Descriptions of experience alone without scriptural support are less likely to be published.
• Movements of Faith are articles of inspiration that highlight God’s faithfulness in times of distress, illness, or spiritual attack. The sovereignty and power of God should be emphasized and supported scripturally, not simply the perseverance of the individual.
• Kid’s Corner is a section devoted to short articles (250-400 words) written for children. We suggest focusing on a single Bible story or principle with illustrations that promote interchange between parents and their children.
• Poetry may be considered as supporting material to articles appearing in the journal.
Unfortunately, we are unable to publish articles on decorating, recipes, or fiction.
Christian Family Journal prefers the writer to submit the completed manuscript of the article rather than a proposal or query. Writers are welcomed to submit a letter of inquiry regarding topics and ideas if uncertain about their suitability for the journal. If proposing a series of articles with a certain theme, we recommend a proposal be sent for the series, with a completed copy of the first article.
Christian Family Journal will give preference to articles that are theologically and scripturally sound. All articles should be supported with specific Scripture references. Writers should use biblical references only from the King James, New King James, New American Standard, and New International Versions of the Bible. All Scripture quotations should be documented with appropriate reference to Chapter and Verse along with the necessary notation of the translation used (i.e. KJV, NKJV, NASB, NIV).
All articles must be submitted in Microsoft Word and we prefer electronic submission via email or on disk. Also include biographical information and list any previous publications and achievements.
Submit your article electronically as a Microsoft Word Attachment to:
