It can make me not want to write at all. I hate heat, unless there is a pool or the sea near by. For the most part I would wrather the temp stayed at 294° Kelvin.

Did a google search here.
294 Kelvin = 69.53 Fahrenheit.
Okay that makes sense. I do wonder why you're using Kelvin...

My schedule stays the same year round. Consistency is the key to success, I really believe. ;) But I do think my happier mindset in the warmer, brighter days tends to make my writing come easier, if that makes any sense. Somebody (I think it might have been Anne Lamont) commented that December and January are always the worst months to write, so she avoids beginning projects at that time of the year. Somehow I always end up starting my novels in January - and, whether it's because of the weather or the beginning blues, I'm often miserable during that month.

I really don't know if it affects me more or not since I'm more sporadic in my writing than I'd prefer to be. Of course, I can be pretty mobile, and have been known to drag my laptop and a chair to the park and write. :) I'll also take notebooks with me out on the boat when hubby wants to go fishing... don't think I'll be able to do that this year since I'll have to tend to the little one AND the dog. :D

Y'know, I have no idea if this affects my writing at all. I'm coming up with ideas and writing pretty consistently no matter what, but I do get tired far more easily in the Summer, and heat makes it very hard for me to concentrate. Or exist.
If I were to venture an hypothesis, I'm sure the heat would affect my writing habits adversely, but I can find no solid evidence to back this up.

I write more in the summer because my schedule is more relaxed. The children are out of school (they are in their teens and 20's), so I do less running and more playing. Also there are no church meetings - who wants to meet during the summer? Cooking for the family is simpler and quicker. I make fewer things from scratch and my children like to cook. They won't hear me argue there. I am not a fan of heat, but I will take a schedule made in heaven any day.

Since I live just a half block from the ocean, it has a calming effect on me. It can be the middle of winter, but just knowing that I am so close to the water makes a difference for me. In the summer hearing the ocen waves, and in the winter looking out my window seeing the ocean inspires me.

I love the water. Since I live a half block from the beach I am inspired to write all the time. In the summer I can watch and hear the ocean waves. Even during the winter looking out my window at the ocean gives me a great feeling. So I am always feeling inspired.
Well for me it is leaving Summer and gradually heading into Winter. But i write pretty much the same. As i don't have wireless internet yet, i woudln't write outdoors, but i guess when we do get it. I might sit in the sun on cooler days. Right now it is nicer to stay inside where it is just that little bit cooler.
Overall i think my writing stays much the same. I haven't really inspected it. But as long as i am comfortable i will write

With 3 kids 5 and under, my writing is very hard to get to. It is very frustrating right now because I have this drive to finish one book and start a 2nd, and the ideas and story's are in my head wanting to get out on paper. It seems the longer I go without writing th more frustrating I get and the more jumbles my thoughts get. I am hoping the warm weather will afford me more opportunities to write as I can let the kids out to play and sit on the porch with my laptop and plug away!!! The opportunity to write in any amount right now would b a blessed change.

I would like to say that my writing increases because I can take my laptop outside, sit at a table and go along my merry way. The only problem is that I don't have a table yet to sit at.
Then there's the fact that I go with my hubby and our two dogs to the trails for an hour for exercise [me and them]. So, that takes away time; and then it's dinner time; and then sometimes we watch a movie, which is another two hours.
Some days I only have an hour to work, and by that time I'm so tired that I find it hard to write more than 500 words. Perhaps I should adopt the NaNoWriMo attitude all the time....?

The heat imprisons me in the air conditioning, so it is actually easier for me to write. However, since I react VERY NEGATIVELY to being manipulated (or imprisoned) I tend to do the necessary, yet ruthless, editing that my writing requires while it is hot outside!

Hi I,m back! I am used to the heat and the occasional scorching sun. The air-conditioner does the work of keeping it cool to write. It's just: 'to write or not to write'. I have been consistently writing whenever I get the time quiet and peaceful to myself. Thanks and 'happy writing'.

I'm jealous, Smithcharlottea. I live near the Great Lakes and the mighty Niagara River, and I feel inspired to write in the same way. But I actually have to get in my car and drive to the beach every summer....
I am drawn to write by such different things... the weather inspires me often regardless of it's condition. Sunny, there is a mystery lurking somewhere or the start of revelations of events or heartstrings. Rain, the epitome of a broken heart but also the fresh smell of a new beginning. Snow is always boring to me but it's a blanket of comfort at times. Thunder is exquisite. Yeah. I write the same no matter the weather. It's all noteworthy. ;)

I love to write. It's my passion. Sometimes i dont know when to stop, but when i feel a need to go out into the fresh air or when i have things to do in town, i get out then. I'm very much an indoors person anyway..but i like picnics and drives..so if there is a church picnic on or hubby wants to go for a drive, i close the computer down and go. But I am an asthmatic so the outdoors makes me cough more.

Maybe because of the crisp Ohio Autumn and explosion of color, I'm most productive and creative in Sept, Oct, and early Nov.
Holidays sometimes inspire me. I don't like heat (actually, "its not the heat, its the humidity" as my mom used to say). Humidity and I don't play well together.

The weather is almost always beautiful here in beautiful Mexico, but sometimes, on a particularly nice day I have trouble keeping focused. When that happens I go to a coffee shop or the mercado to be with people for a while. After an hour or so I start working in my head and rush home to get it on paper (screen, actually).

I love being outside in the spring time. We raise all our own vegetables and have large gardens. Plus we have kid goats, newly hatched quail, 1 month old piglets, chicks, and lambs due very soon. I recently incubated some turkey eggs and had 5 hatch.

I'm ill-informed about swine flu because I don't eat pork. I eat less meat ,more vegetables. Is that healthy?
I keep seeing this poll on the home page, and it's driving me a little bit crazy! What warmer weather? Our expected high today is 12 degrees (that's about 53F, or, if you're Azariah, 285 Kelvin :)). And we're one of the warmer spots in Canada--we're supposed to be grateful that we're not getting snow!
I bought a plastic table and chair set and hung up pots of flowers with glorious visions of sitting outside in the warm sun, enjoying a cool breeze, and writing madly away on my yellow notepad with my favourite pen.
Instead I'm stuck indoors, bundled up in a sweater and blanket, and my fingers are so cold I'm having trouble typing. AARGH!
Of course, I reserve the right to complain about the heat when it finally arrives. :D

Yes, the warm weather affects my writing because I grow the food we eat. That means preparing 1/2 acre of ground, planting, harvesting and processing, not to mention caring for the chickens that also find their way to the freezers. I don't consider this a bad thing though because I have a whole slew of new ideas when I do get back to work in the fall.

I don't really notice a difference. When it's warm out, I tend to write warm weather stuff; when it's cold out, I tend to write cold weather stuff. My daily writing exercise has really helped me to make use of every day to do a little bit of writing.
And some days, the weather is what gets me started for the day.

I write every waking hour, well almost. That is until the past 2 weeks. I am having vision problems and can't write right now and it is driving me crazy. So many ideas and unable to see what I am writing. My eyes tire easily because of the blurred vision, but God is helping me cope. I will see the doctor tomorrow and he will tell me what is happening. I had double vision for a little while, but that is gone now. Please pray I am not losing my sight. That would be devastating.

Greetings to All,
I have been without full sight for one year and had to hold my head down and wasn't able to move let alone go outdoors save for doctor visits, etc. Even though I can now still I am indoors trusting the Lord to help me rewrite a novel! I have landed the BEST agent in my field to read my work once completed.
I had two back-to-back retina detachment leaving me disadvantaged with regard to sight. However, I am able to see and not 100% blind like I was. This happened to me at an early age. I was told that my eyes just wore out. It was tough. I would not wish THAT on anyone. My surgeon is in the top ten in USA and one mile from me so that has helped me, greatly.
It may amuse you to know that during some of my surgeries I hummed "Jesus Loves Me." You stay awake druring eye surgery and it's not easy to not move, etc.
My dear husband planted a rose garden for me to see outdoors once I could see again. And it's lovely!
During this difficult time, Momma Rose went to heaven and I was unable to attend BUT the good Lord comforted me (and her!) for I as able to say Goodbye!
I decided to rejoin this site just now. I don't know what, if anything is going on save for my writing and now daily Bible reading of 16 days. And, of course, I keep up with the daily news. Other than that, I am praying to be a published novelist. Please pray for me! Take care. Eileen St. Lauren, website not current

I live in Central Florida. Oddly enough, the summertime here is the time when I ride the motorcycle a little less (heat and mid-afternoon thunderstorms) and gauge how much I want to go somewhere by how much time I'll have to spend outside in heat and humidity. So it is a great time to be glued to the keyboard. Now, February, when daytime highs are in the 70s and evenings are perfect for a fire in the outdoor fireplace ... that month is a productivity killer.

God's Servants are like the Weather!
The weather is God's servant.......or rather,His Servant is like the weather!
Sometimes,He uses them to bless the ground, and at other times to flood the earth and wash away whatever there is.
Sometimes,He uses them to shine so that things grow as they
should or at other times to dry up all things,so that there is nothing left!
Sometimes to cool with breeze, at other times to blow everything away.Sometimes blessings, sometimes curses!
The weather is God's servant......or rather His Servant is like the weather.
So watch it how you treat God's Servant, The Christ.

:) Hmmm... i have always loved wrting. There were times when I write without taking a meal. I remember writing for hours without breakfast and lunch. My siblings used to wonder what I do at the dinning, at times, the food is on the table, books, papers, quotes, dictionary, everything is just piled and scattered everywhere... this adrenaline of writing till i finish well up inside me... it was fun. I still write, I still love writing; especially fictional romance. My kind of environment is a quiet place, cool music in the background, serene... just me and my laptop... writing is the best thing that ever happened to me. !thumbsup!
It would except that I hang out in air-conditioning. I am useless if I get too warm and down right sick, if I get too hot. I am working on being a very serious writer, trying to get my life organized to that endeavor. My answer is No, but because...of air-conditioning.

I have Raynaud's syndrome which equates to hypersensitivity to cold temperatures. Usually affects fingers and toes and sometimes can hinder the ease of writing. But when its extra hot outside, I run out like a carefree child set free to recess! I blossom in the sun and enjoy talking to God in my journaling.

A friend of mine who's moving gave me a very nice two seater swing - the kind where each seat can be adjusted to pull back and snooze if you want. Most people use the middle compartment (big) between the two as an arm rest/table between them) as a cooler for beverages. In front of that are two cup holders. Above is an adjustable canape. I use the beverage area for writing/studying materials and the holders for my drinks. Spend EARLY mornings there (usually) and late afternoons/evenings doing the same. Tried taking the laptop out to do work electronically, but the natural light interfers with the screen no matter how I turn it. Instead, back to the basics which I've come to love, then transfer later once the sun goes down. Nice though. The hummingbirds are pretty fearless and nosey. They'll flint on by close enough to touch sometimes until they start fussing at each other.
Actually, this is kinda a sneaky question. I jot down notes when I'm out and if not distracted my mind acts like a yard full of baby chicks suddenly let loose. I don't know if its the weather, or casual attitudes of summer, maybe a larger influx of tourists, but its easier to draw them out in conversations at this time of year. Lots of ideas squirreled away for a (ahum) rainy day.

Well ...
I'm outta school, so I'm not writing papers ...
My kids are outta school, so I have less private time ...
Schools are closed so my wife is home, less private time ...
The warm weather doesn't affect my desire to, it just brings conditions that interfere ...
And all this affects my art as well.
But at least it's not snowing!!thumbsup!

Today:
Yeah, sure does! Canned tomatoes, made and froze speggetti sauce; sadly looking over the last of the tomato plants; deadheaded most of the basil, arugula; smacked my hands to NOT water the back-back yard (goal is to transplant all the succulents/cactus into larger pots and turn it into a water resistant area). Severly cut down most of the branches of dead tree in the very back corner. Ignored the large community of hummingbirds fuss over this (they live in a wall of orangecape honeysuckle that's on one side of the fence).
Fed all the plants, used the Furminator on the dogs, vaccummed, and cleaned the kitchen floor. Just got a phone call from a friend asking if I wanted to come over and help paint. If I TRIED to write later, think I'd probably fall asleep and wake with the impressions of little squares on my forehead.

I live in the sunny Southern California desert where the average day-time temp during the summer is about 120. Granted, it's been a rather lax summer with the hottest having been around 116. Thankfully, it's been a mostly dry summer, so it's all nothing but a dry-heat, something you don't appreciate until you get a very humid day and 120 high.
So, since going outside is out of the question, I write.

I tend to write more because the room where I write is bitter cold in the winter! Spring and fall are the most productive times for me- and summer slows a bit because I have the kids home and I don't like running the AC all the time. :(
