A line very similar to this just kinda of stuck in my head. So, I started this just for fun. I've always wondered about Christian aliens. :D Feel free to join in. We'll just keep adding to it until it gets tired or the aliens come and take it away. LOL :D

“Whatever it is, it’s bittersweet .”

Joan looked at her new friend a little amazed. “What?”

“Whatever’s on your mind. There’s something that’s very bittersweet.”

“Oh, that.” Joan was still amazed at the simple comment. She hadn’t known Susan very long but still she felt that she was more than just compassionate. How did she know anyway.

“So?”

“It’s nothing really.” Joan knew from the look on Susan's face that she wasn't going to buy that.

“Joan, tell me. What’s wrong?” Susan looked at her new friend.

Joan looked off not wanting to discuss it.

Susan continued “I see, you don’t want to talk about it right now.” She smiled. “That’s fine. I’ll be around.”

Susan eyebrows raised. “Really?”

“Huh um.”

Joan was more and more amazed.

“But how did you know?”

“I thought you didn’t want to talk about it.”

“I don’t’. But, how did you know there was anything to talk about?”

“Just did.” Susan looked up at her friend. “Oh, I forgot.”

“Forgot what?”

“Nothing, except that I’m empathic. I forget that humans aren’t, you know.”

Joan started to laugh until she saw that Susan was serious. “You aren’t, what, human?”

“Well, no, not everyone is you know.” Susan saw the confused look on Joan’s face. “No, I’m not crazy, just alien.”

Realization, followed by shock, which was erased by incredulity, transformed Joan's expression. No. It couldn't be. Susan was just guessing. And Joan had to keep Susan, had to keep anyone, from knowing. Denial crept across Joan's features, relaxed the rigidity. She burst into shrill laughter.

Susan frowned.

"Whoo! You had me going there for a minute."

"Huh?"

"Alien? Boy, that's a good one! Wait'll I tell Gus." Joan leaned over, clutched her stomach as new spasms of hilarity gripped her.

Susan's face flushed hot and red. "How dare you laugh at me!"

Joan straightened, still chuckling. "Wasn't that what you wanted? To get a laugh?"

The crimson stain drained from Susan's face, leaving it pale and stark, her eyes large and dark, dull, like obsidian orbs that had lost their polish. "Don't laugh at me. Ever."

Susan looked into the eyes for a long moment, then rose, smothing her skirt.

"I...I'd better be going." It was not a particularly graceful responce, but she didn't know what to say. The eyes lost a bit of their darkness. Susan wondered what the new look meant. She slid into the black Accord and started driving.

There was a tap on the window, and she jumped, her heart taking off. It was Joan. Susan rolled the window down just a bit.

"Sorry about that," Joan said, a bit sheepish. "I don't know what that was all about." Everything seemed normal. Susan wondered if her recent fright was messing with her mind.

"It's fine," she said. "I'm sorry I laughed at you."

Joan smiled forgivingly and moved to let her leave, but turned back before Susan could raise the window.

"Oh, I meant to tell you: it's been fun."

"What?"

"I..." she trailed off. "Well, I might not be around anymore, you know?"

Susan shook her head. "No, I don't really know."

"Well," Joan said, then bit her lip and was silent. She smiled again and walked away. There was lipstick on her teeth. Susan shivered, then was disgusted with herself. it's lipstick you fool.

She pressured the gas, and the park was suddenly behind her.

Joan watched the car until it faded into the distance. "Goodbye, new friend. Perhaps we will meet again in the here after."
