Mel, Your prompt sounds like fun, however, I'm curious about the word 'stepple.' I can't find that this is a word. Maybe this is a typo. Let me know. Thanks.

"Mrs. Spade, would you like some more tea?" Jenny asked.
"Oh, no, dear. I'm afraid I won't have time for any more. I must rush off now so I can drop this letter in the mail," Mrs. Spade said as she patted the envelope laying on the table. "I want the church to know that I am in full support of erecting the new steeple."
"Well, let me help you with your-" The tea kettle clanged as it fell over. Tea started spreading all over the table and Mrs. Spade's letter. "Oh, no! I'm so sorry!"
"Oh, dear!"
"I didn't mean to spill it!"
"I know, sweetheart." Mrs. Spade tore open the envelope and inspected its contents. Look, the letter and the check are fine. I just need a new envelope. Do you have one?"
"Yes, yes." Jenny rushed over to a desk nearby and returned with two envelopes and postage. "I brought an extra one just in case you needed it."
Mrs. Spade addressed the envelope and posted it. "There, Satan, it will take a lot more than tea to keep me from supporting my local church."
"Oh, you are such a card."
"Well, they don't call me Mrs. Spade for nothing!"

"It was all in the Name"
Spade looked around the old shed, he could see several shovels. a brush and a dustpan. "Fancy being put in here with this riff raff" he thoght to himself whistfully.
On the workbench by the oil lamp sat an old tea caddy the faded gold lettering declaring the picture on the lid and front to be St Adens Church, Castletown, the steeple standing tall above the elms reflecting in the river and an unopened envelope, simply addressed 'to whom it may concern'.
A battered old case complete with rusty latches lay open in the dingy corner. what light there was filtered through a small dirty window to the left of the door.
Spade heard voices approaching and suddenly the door burst open letting in the sublight to reveal the dusty interior.
Two burly charactors could be seen in the doorway..
"Grab that shovel" said one as he struggled to pick something heavy from the garden path.
"Its a Spade" replied the other wryly.
"Spade, Shovel what's the difference, grab it and let's get out of here, this place is giving me the creeps"
Had Spade been able to communicate with the ruffians who uncerimoniously interupted his thoughts he would have made them aware in no uncertain terms that he Spade was indeed not one of these common shovels but he was in fact a Stainless Steel Spade specially crafted by 'Phelps of Newport. Manufacturers of the finest garden tools in the world'.
After all it was all in the name wasn't it.

"Wake up already will you!!!" Amanda cried from across the dinning room table where she sat across from her friend. "Case I know you are nervous about this, but if you don't look you will never know one way or the other."
Case just sits there drinking his ice tea staring down at the envelope lying on the table in front of him. "I'm not sure if I want to know sis, I don't think I could handle yet another rejection."
Amanda stares at him worried that he may be right, There was know telling what he might do if it was yet another rejection notice. Case Had been working feverishly for months now sending in one application after another. Hopeing agents hope that he would be excepted into a good school. There family had little money and couldn’t afford to send him to a university, His senior year in high school would be over in a few weeks and she could tell it was driving him nuts.
"Look, so what if it another rejection, you still have three more apps that haven’t been replied to so far there is still a chance one of them..."
"You don't get it do you sis." A frown growing on Case's face. "I need to get into at least this one. Mom and Dad wont be able to hold out forever. There both sick and it won't be long before neither of them will be able to work."
Case stands up and swiftly walks in to the livening room.
Amanda grabbing up the envelope quickly fallows to find Case at the fire place poking at the smoldering ashes with a spade. Staring at the glowing coals as if they had an answer for him.
"I have to get into somewhere sis, I'm there only hope now. I can't fail them, not again." Case exclaims with tears welling up in his eyes.
She under stood how he felt there parents weren’t in the best of health especially there father, after having worked for years in the coal mines, Having breathed in all that dust for such a long time had caused a sever case of black lung. Even after being told by his doctors he still went for three more years working in the depths of the earth trying to keep all there heads above water.
In the end it did no good, he collapsed in the mine and was barely ably to be revived on the way to the hospital. After witch the mine owners forced him into an early retirement. There dad's pention was enough to keep him and there mom in good standing. Keeping the bills paid and food in the house but little ells. There Mom had been working as well, But a few years after that she too was forced to stop working because of the carpel tunnel in here knees, she is not able to stand for more than a few minuets at a time.
This was killing there Mom they knew, She had always been a vibrant, person always on the go. It seemed that every time you turned around there was another project, or a church function that she was involved with.
There mom was even responsible for getting the money that the church needed to renovate the old steeple. With out all the donations that she was able to gather the church would have been forced to remove it.
That went very long ago at all only a few months. Since then though both there parents conduction have gotten worse there pain medications where not working as well as they used to and the doctor wont give them anything stronger for fear that there bodies couldn’t handle the strain.
Amanda with no other idea's tried one last time. **maybe tuff love will work this time**
"What makes you so think that you're so important that You are the only one that can help now huh? What makes you so great?"
Case turns around a look of both anger and anguish on his face. "God told me more than a year again. He's been pressing it on my heart more and more these past few months as well. I half to get into a university, I have to get a decent paying carrier so that I can help them. If I don't they could loose everything. I don't want them dieing homeless or alone."
**So that was it.**
"If that’s the case then..." Amanda hands the envelope to him with a stabbing motion. "Then you have to open this and see what is inside."
"But what if..."
"But what if what Case? If God has put this in you're heart, If He has said that you are the only one that can do this. If you have been chosen for this task. The do you honestly think that He has not also provided you the way to do so.? You need to remember faith, faith that God will not let you fall.
"He hasn’t so far."
"God never said it would be easy, But Jesus also said seek and you shall find, have some faith."
"I do"
"Then open that envelope."
Case looks at his sister then back at the envelope.
"You're right sis."
Taking the envelope from here Case moves to the front window and looks out gazing at the church and the steeple that wouldn’t be standing there if not for his own mother efforts.
**Lord guide me**
Case opens the envelope and removes the paper inside.
There is a long uncomfortable silence.
"Well? What dose it say?
Case turns around a smile on his face and tears in his eyes. "They excepted me."
With a shout Amanda leaps at him, hugging him as hard as she can.
"You see big brother all you needed was a little faith."

The mist like vapor rose from the shore where the pirate dug. The slinging of Long John’s spade was barely visible through the dense fog that covered the ground like mist over a cup of breakfast tea. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to see him open the large case he was pulling out of the sand. My curiosity was being challenged to get closer, but Long John's saber had ended the curiousity of many a scurvy sea dog. Soon the rolling fog would envelope the entire shore. Already the steeple across from Mad Dog tavern was lost in the gathering shroud.
